Clinton Township School District Mission Statement: The Clinton Township School District, in partnership with the community, achieves excellence for each child by ensuring a meaningful and challenging educational experience in a supportive environment; developing life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens. I N O U R S C H O O L S : Su R Scho September is a special time at Spruce Run School, as in addition to cooler days and crisper air, it often brings a first-time school experience for many of our students and families. Our faculty and staff are eager to collaborate with families to support our youngest learners, and welcome our students back to school on September 5! This year we continue our motto of "Planting the Seeds of Friendship" and begin a new theme,"With Our Own Two Hands," as we plan many exciting opportunities for building and exploring at SRS this year. Once again, to help ease potential "first day jitters" for our SRS students, families were invited to meet their teachers on August 31, prior to the first day of school. Visitors completed a scavenger hunt to find classrooms and say hello to their teachers, since it is so helpful to be able to put a face with a name. Riding the bus to school for the first time can also be somewhat of a challenging idea for our very young students, so kindergarten and new students were invited to take a bus ride by themselves on this day as well. It was a great chance to practice getting on the bus alone, buckling their own seatbelts, and waving good-bye to parents for a short trip around town. We are looking forward to a fantastic school year at Spruce Run School this year! Paick McGah Scho We are so pleased to welcome our students and staff back to Patrick McGaheran School! There is so much excitement for the new beginnings that accompany the month of September. Patrick McGaheran is a new school for our second graders and we look forward to getting to know each student individually. Our third grade students will be meeting their new teachers and seeing their new classrooms. Everyone will be happy to meet all of our newly enrolled students. The teachers are always thrilled when the names on their rosters turn into faces and personalities and the community in the classroom begins to develop. We have some new staff members joining PMG, and are happy to welcome them to the PMG family of educators. T h i s y e a r w e a r e c o n t i n u i n g c u r r i c u l a r enhancements including exciting hands-on science lessons tied to the Next Generation Science Standards and literacy updates that will help students with reading and writing skills. Our school-wide theme will continue to promote friendships, and will incorporate our school mascot, Buddy the Bulldog. We have many fun new plans in place to celebrate kindness, inclusion and friendship. We look forward to sharing our school happenings in future CT Newsletters! Rd V Scho We have been busy getting Round Valley School ready for students and staff! We can't wait for all to see our newly finished gymnasium floor. It has been sanded and is ready to be relined for all the Phys. Ed. activities! The before picture is below, look for the after picture next month! Just a reminder that while you enjoy the summer vacation, keep up with summer reading! This is a sure way to maintain and build reading capacity, vocabulary, fluency, and build a joy for literature! More information is on the RVS website: http://rvs.ctsdnj.org/ As always, we are looking for those who would like to help with the Round Valley Garden upkeep. Please contact the main office at 908.236.6341 if you would like to volunteer some time to help maintain the garden. t Tohip Midd Scho On June 16 we said Congratulations and Goodbye to our graduating 8th graders. We wish them the best as they embark on the next stage in their academic career! If you were driving past CTMS on a weekday morning in July it was hard to believe that it was the summer and school was officially over. CTMS was a hive of activity filled with students attending the CTSD Extended School Year program and the Clinton Township Recreation Department Summer Program. In both programs, students enjoyed a multitude of activities designed to promote learning while having fun. As we relax and take time to rejuvenate over the summer it is important to recognize the importance of summer reading. Research shows that students who do not read over the summer demonstrate academic loss in the Fall. All CTSD students are expected to read throughout the summer. Our purpose is to encourage students to acquire the wonderful lifetime habit of independent reading. Information on the reading requirements for incoming seventh and eighth grade students and students entering 9th grade at NHHS can be found on the CTMS web page: Summer Reading and Math Assignments: http://ctsdnj.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=324 672&pageId=8615365 School families should have received an email in mid-August regarding visitation day and important information for the upcoming school year.
