The keynote speaker will be Good News Home Partner, Lonnie Allgood, former NFL Player and CEO of Dreams for Kids. The Good News Home, licensed by the State of New Jersey, provides its residents a spiritually based, comprehensive recovery program regardless of race, religion or ability to pay. "This is our first fundraiser of the year," says Robin Jackson the Good News Home's Development Director. "Through this event we raise greatly needed revenue to continue helping hurting, broken women receive healing they so desperately need. It is because of the support of our friends and the community that we are able to help women start the on-going process of recovery; helping them to become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive - free from the bondage of active addiction to drug and/or alcohol". SKIT may be FOOTLOOSE, but the ties that bind that make these ShowKids spectacular! Recently winning top industry honors for best musical, ShowKids Invitational Theatre (SKIT) is going FOOTLOOSE bringing an all new high-energy production to the stage, based on the 80's blockbuster movie and musical tour. After earning NJACT's prestigious "Outstanding Production of a Musical" Perry Award for last season's production of SHREK, these ShowKids have fired up their dancing feet to work with New York choreographer Ashley Eichbauer Newman. The SKIT family ties in this awesome production make it even more awe-inspiring. The award-winning ShowKids are going to rock the house May 2-9; FOOTLOOSE is being presented on Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 pm; Sun - day, May 3 at 2:00 pm; Friday, May 8 at 7:30 pm; and Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 pm. All four performances will take place in the Voorhees High School Auditorium, Route 513, Glen Gardner. SKIT will be hosting its annual pre-show complimentary Senior Citizens brunch with musical entertainment by the SKIT kids on Sunday, May 3 prior to the matinee performance. One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory, FOOT - LOOSE is the story that captivated a nation of teenagers with the new kid in town turning a small town upside down, for all the right reasons! SKIT's exhilarating production promises to have "everybody cut foot loose." When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. Tickets are on sale now! Tickets cost $20 or less and can be purchased directly at: www.showkids.org or by calling the SKIT ticket line at: 908.638.5959. We hope to see you there! "Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed." ~Linda Wooten
