Support United Way of HC's
Annual School Supply Drive!
United Way of Hunterdon County needs your help to ensure all
Hunterdon County students are prepared for school this fall. The
goal is to provide 1500 school supply kits and/or backpacks so all our chil-
dren can start the first day of school ready to learn. We are asking individuals,
companies, and organizations to participate in our Tools 4 School program
by either donating school supplies or providing United Way of Hunterdon
County with a monetary donation to support the program.
Just think how far even a dollar would go to serving Hunterdon County students
in need of supplies! A dollar buys… 5 glue sticks, 4 notebooks, 5 folders,
a pack of pencils, etc. Donations will be accepted through August
8 and will be used toward the creation of basic school supply kits including
backpacks, pencils, pens, highlighters, dry erase markers, notebooks, filler
paper, folders, glue sticks, page dividers, 2" binders, scientific calculators,
pencil sharpeners, composition books, scissors, crayons and markers depend-
ing on each students' grade level.
An easy way to give supplies is by visiting:
http://www.yougivegoods.com/Tools4School2014.
Stuff the Bus drop-off days will be held at the following
locations: July 26: Branchburg Station Walmart Plaza,
Aug. 2 – Flemington Walmart, Aug. 9 – Clinton Walmart,
Aug. 3 – Shoprite of Clinton
Please consider partnering with United Way of Hunterdon County on this
program. Visit www.uwhunterdon.org for a list of needed school supplies
along with a list of drop-off locations. For information on Tools 4 School, please
visit www.uwhunterdon.org or call Amy Andersen, Volunteer Engagement
Manager, at: 908.782.3414, ext 24. United Way is working to advance the
common good by focusing on income, health and education. These are the
building blocks for a good life – a quality education that leads to a stable job,
enough income to support a family through retirement and good health. Our
goal is to invest in improving lives and conditions in Hunterdon
County by creating long-lasting changes that prevent problems
from happening in the first place. For more information, please

Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station and Rutgers Coopera-
tive Extension proudly announce the Annual Snyder Farm Open House
and Great Tomato Tasting! The event includes the very popular tasting of over 80
heirloom and hybrid varieties of beefsteak, plum, cherry and grape tomatoes. Other
highlights include tasting of apples and peaches from the NJAES Tree Fruit Breeding
Program along with varieties of basil and honey. The Melda C. Snyder Teaching Gar-
den will showcase demonstration gardens of deer tolerant ornamentals; blueberries,
hazelnuts and hollies from the Rutgers breeding programs; examples of proper tomato
plant culture; and a wall of fruit highlighting apple trees for the home landscape. Wagon
tours of the farm's research plots will be held throughout the event. Chef demonstra-
tions featuring preparation of several recipes, Jersey Fresh Salsa tastings, turf labyrinth
in the teaching garden and educational displays from various organizations are also
expected. Rutgers NJAES faculty and staff and Rutgers Master Gardener volunteers will
be available to answer your gardening questions and to make your visit a pleasurable
and memorable one. Along with your camera and appetite, visitors are requested to
donate non-perishable foods in support of the Rutgers Against Hunger (RAH) program.
