of the next year, we will work with our engineer and other partners to
identify ways to improve pedestrian safety and walkability in the village
of Annandale that augment the exceptional job our police department does to
enforce traffic regulations and to keep all of us safe throughout the Township.
At the beginning of the year, the Planning Board re-evaluated
the Township's Master Plan and recommended consolidating the
patchwork commercial zoning along Route 31 into a single Highway
Commercial Zone, while also specifically prohibiting warehouse and
distribution uses in the new zone, in a similar way to updates the Township
made a few years ago along Route 22 (warehouse and distribution uses are
not currently permitted uses within the Township and therefore are already
prohibited). We anticipate that the ordinance implementing these
changes will be introduced in early 2024 once some edits are made to the
first draft that was proposed earlier this year.
We also will be sure to utilize the Township's website, social media,
and this Newsletter to keep residents informed of any developments
regarding the ExxonMobil property, and I thank all who provided their
input directly to ExxonMobil.
Our all-volunteer fire department, the Annandale Hose Company,
does a fantastic job protecting the property and lives of our community,
but is always looking for volunteers, particularly during the weekday.
If you have any interest in serving, I encourage you to reach out to the
fire company at membership@ahco1.com.
Whether it be enjoying events or activities at Bundt Park, a hike on
our beautiful open spaces, gardening at the Community Garden, or
any of our many other amenities, I hope that we all take advantage of
the great things that Clinton Township has to offer us.
On behalf of the Council and the entire staff of Clinton Township,
I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy
New Year.
– Brian Mullay,
Mayor, Township of Clinton
