Through their hard work and dedication, we continue to enhance the quality of life in Clinton Township. In 2023, thanks to the efforts of the Recreation Committee and Public Works crews, we added new equipment to the playground at Bundt Park and extended the operating hours of the restroom facilities. At the end of the season, a new water fountain and water bottle filling station was also installed, and an additional filling station is planned for 2024. The committee also continues to plan for a new playground that will be constructed on the parkland just south of the high school. The Green Team and Environmental Commission participated in the NJ Transit Adopt-A-Station program by cleaning up the Annandale train station, organized a clean up that resulted in the removal of over 1,000 pounds of trash from our roadways, and partnered with North Hunterdon High School's Environmental Club to create a pollinator garden at the high school. The Open Space Committee, Green Team and Environmental Commission also completed a bulk tree planting of 125 trees on our Windy Acres open space property. Meanwhile, the Open Space Committee continues to evaluate properties for potential acquisition and preservation. In recognition of her efforts with many of these initiatives, the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commission's (ANJEC) honored Councilwoman Amy Switlyk with its Municipal Leadership Award. Congratulations to her on this well deserved award. The Histor ic Preser vat ion Commission continues to educate about different aspects of the Township's history and work to safeguard that history. All of our committees and commissions are filled with volunteers who generously give their time for the betterment of our community. Over the course of the year, we completely repaved Petticoat Lane (from East Main Street to Haytown Road), Valley Crest Road and Allerton Road. With some additional resources, Public Works has been better able to address our over 110 miles of roads, collect leaves, and bring back our Christmas Tree recycling program. While we have made substantial progress, we recognize many of our roads still require attention and are planning to continue to invest in road improvements, leveraging grant money to do so. We have received a $153,531 grant towards repaving Glen Eagles Drive, Muirfield Lane, and Heather Hill Way, and our engineer and Public Works Director will work in the new year to analyze the condition of the Township's roads to plan additional repairs and paving projects, as they do annually. Partnering with goHunterdon, a local nonprofit that promotes safer and more sustainable transportation, we conducted a walkability workshop along Beaver Avenue in April.
