Clinton Township Middle School participates in the National Scripp's Spelling bee, and our school champion is going to the national finals! Eighth grader Jianna Marina earned her spot as a national competitor by advancing from the l o c a l t o t h e r e g i o n a l b e e , w h i c h w a s h e l d i n W i l k e s - B a r r e , P A . There she took home first place, competing against students from over 75 schools in the eastern PA/western NJ region! Beginning on May 31, spellers will compete i n f o u r s e g m e n t s o f c o m p e t i t i o n t o determine who will take home the Scripps Cup: the Preliminaries, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals. All rounds of competition will be broadcast on ION platforms. Good Luck, Jianna! You can read more about the Scripps Spelling Bee at: https:// spellingbee.com/competition! Day, a traditional song from the Georgia Sea Islands and Path to the Moon by Eric Thiman. 5th Grade Chorus will sing Siyahamba, a traditional Zulu song, and A New Year Carol by British composer Benjamin Britten. Golden Eagle Singers will sing Hine Ma Tov in Hebrew, Shenandoah, and the famous Fifty Nifty United States. All students in RVS Chorus will end the concert by singing Galop, by Ken Berg, a fun song performed entirely on Solfege! We are also excited to have our first performance by both 4th Grade Band and Orchestra in early June. You won't believe how far we have come in just one year, from learning how to properly assemble and hold our instruments, to playing complex pieces together. The band will be playing a fanfare style piece called Rise to Power, and a fun song called Lamb Chop Rock, that combines Baa Baa Black Sheep, and Mary Had a Little Lamb in an interesting way. And the Orchestra will be playing a march style piece called Enter the Heroes, and a darker, more mysterious piece written in B minor, called The Grotto. We look forward to sharing our music with families who are able to join us at the concerts! Fundraiser Update! Each year Round Valley Elementary School's students and staff participate in a fundraiser to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This year, the fundraiser was completed under the direction of our Student Council members and their facilitator, Ms. Amanda Murphy. Fundraising activities were done online and during school lunches. We are excited to announce that our school raised almost $3000. We are so proud to be part of such a generous community! Field Days at RVS! We are very excited to run grade level field days this June! 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade students will participate in a variety of activities planned and led by our physical education teachers with the support of our teachers and PTA. The activities include many fun challenges and a special treat for students. We look forward to great field days!
