Shanahan, Jr., Esq. at their 4th Annual Star Celebration on Thursday, May 3 at the Beaver Brook Country Club at 6:00 pm! Bob has been an active volunteer in the Hunterdon County community for the past 24 years. He helped shape the lives of Hunterdon County youth as a Boy Scout leader, starting as den leader in Cub Scouts, later becoming a scoutmaster and now Scoutmaster Emeritus for B.S.A. Troop 121 in Clinton. Additionally, Bob is a merit badge counselor for the Washington Crossing Council, BSA and the Charter Representative for Troop 191, Asbury, NJ. For the past eleven years, Bob has helped Hunterdon County's most vulnerable seniors with his involvement in Volunteer Guardianship. Bob has served as a member of the Board of Trustees, is a Past President, and currently serves as legal counsel to the Board of Trustees. Bob is a senior partner at Shanahan & Voigt, LLC. concentrating in Elder Law, Estate Planning and Probate. He is the Past President of the Hunterdon County Bar Association and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, (NJ NA ELA, Board of Trustees). He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and its Elder Law & Disability Section Committee. In his spare time, Bob is an avid gardener and a gentleman farmer. He is passionate about history and the Revolutionary War. Bob is a founding member and an active re-enactor with the Captain Outwater's Company, Bergen County Militia. Additionally, Bob is a member of the Board of Trustees for Friends of the Word, Inc., a Catholic internet faith based program produced by Rev. Louis Scurti. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Valley View Farm & Preserve, a non-profit farm that raises food for Norwescap, and area food banks. Bob received his JD from Temple University School of law and a BA from William Paterson University, with honors. He has been married to his wife, Mary, for 30 years and is the proud father of two sons, Kevin and John. He is an especially proud grandfather. Come One, Come All, to Immaculate Conception School in Annandale for a morning of fun-filled circus themed activities on Saturday April 14 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Games, crafts, wagon rides and more! Plus, special guest star, Mr. Ray, the popular children's entertainer, will perform "music for the kid in all of us" and is appropriate for guests of all ages. A 2013 Blue Ribbon School of Academic Excellence, Immaculate Conception School serves children 2-years-old through eighth grade and is the only Catholic School in Hunterdon County. Mane Stream is holding its Spring Tack Sale on April 7 from 8:00 am-4:00 pm at 83 Old Turnpike Road in Oldwick. It includes: bridles, saddles, blankets, tack boxes, boots, breeches, jackets and possibly horse related jewelry, models and knick- knacks! This event is an important part of the yearly fund raising plan. All proceeds benefit Mane Stream's horses, equine assisted programs including "Take the Reins" for Veterans and "Horses for Healing" for those living with, recovering from and living life after cancer. It's time for the Newcomers Club of North Hunterdon's 12th Annual "Bring The Heat" Chili Cook-off on Saturday, April 21! Join us for a fun-filled day of tasting chili, listening to music, enjoying the tricky tray and voting for your favorites. There are two categories of contestants: Individual and Restaurant. Any type of chili is eligible (meat, vegetarian, chicken, turkey, with beans, without beans, etc.) Individuals can win cash prizes; restaurants will be awarded a plaque for "Best Chili in Hunterdon County". There are "People's Choice" awards also! Tasting tickets may be purchased for $12 at: www.BringTheHeat.org or $15 at the door (children 12 and under free!). This fundraising event is held at the Clinton First Aid Squad, indoors, beginning at 4:00 pm. Tasting goes until the pots are empty; don't be late!
