Individuals with hearing loss are at risk for cognitive decline, according
to recent studies. Hearing loss has been shown to contribute to brain tissue
loss, negatively affecting a person's ability to process sound and speech. (1)
The correlation is significant: cognitive abilities among those with hearing
loss decline 30-40 percent faster than in people with normal hearing. (2) Early
detection and treatment are key to preventing these debilitating side effects.
