Our club was awarded the "GOLD STICK AWARD" from US Lacrosse for Best Lacrosse Practice – Best Safety – Best Lacrosse Experience. We are the only 2016 GOLD STICK AWARD winner in the United States. As a benefit of our membership with the NJJLL and JGLA, our youth players practice locally and play competitive away games in neighboring towns such as Branchburg, Readington, Tewksbury, Del Val, Philipsburg, Flemington and Warren Hills. We offer a Jr. Mohawk program, designed for boys and girls, Kindergarten through first grade, and our boys and girls program offer teams from second to eighth grade. The Mohawks will offer Elite teams this year. The purpose of the Mohawk program is to introduce the game of lacrosse to as many children in our community as possible. We then provide them with the highest level of coaching we can and introduce, develop and instruct boys and girls in the game of lacrosse so that they develop a life-long love for this sport. Our experienced, dedicated youth coaches teach players how to work hard to become fundamentally sound, preparing them for scholastic play by the 8th grade. Among the Mohawks coaching staff are former players from Johns Hopkins, Rutgers, Boston College, Drexel and Kutztown, a Division I All-American, a former Division I coach, and a US Lacrosse Level 3 coach. Many of our volunteer coaches are US Lacrosse Level I certified. We require our coaches to complete a background check, the "Positive Coaching Alliance" course, CDC Heads-up Concussion training, the Rutgers Safety Course, and be a member of US Lacrosse. When youth players learn to love the game of lacrosse, and have a desire to play at a higher level, we introduce them to higher level opportunities to help them improve their game through our partnerships with "select" lacrosse clubs. Exposing our youth players to other styles of coaching helps them to become well-rounded players as they prepare to play in high school. The philosophy of the Mohawks has been incredibly successful as witnessed by the championships won by both the boys and girls teams at North Hunterdon High School. Many of the boys on North's team are a product of our Mohawk program, and nearly all of the girls on the girl's team are alumni of our Mohawk program!
