The event will take place at Hunterdon Medical Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ. The Fair will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm and admission is free. Last year, we played host to over 100 veterans and family members. Veterans and their families talked with and received valuable information from over 35 organizations, including the VA, who were on hand to acquaint attendees with their various programs and benefits that may be available to them. Some of these organization provided free legal consultation, transportation options, psychological and counseling services and wellness programs. Breakout sessions dealing with specific topics of interest to veterans (including VA services and enrollment procedures) are scheduled. Opening ceremonies will feature a color guard, recognition of service to attending veterans and a musical tribute to our armed forces. Save the date and come out to the Fair to a great, inspiring and informative day. For more information regarding attending or to have your organization participate, please contact Bob or Erinn at Hunterdon Hospice: 908.788.2573 or email: rgerminsky@hhsnj.org. s o u t h h I g h l a n D s g r o u p o f t h e s I e r r a c l u b ' s s p r u c e r u n c l e a n u p ! Wednesday, November 1 at 7:00 pm North County Branch Library, 65 Halstead Street, Clinton, NJ. Raritan Headwaters Association policy director Bill Kibler will talk about the recent spill from the Glen Gardner Quarry that is in the process of a huge cleanup. According to Kibler, at some point at the end of July, a large amount of stone dust sludge was apparently discharged into Spruce Run by the Eastern Concrete Materials, Inc. Glen Gardner Quarry. This discharge impacted 1.7 miles of the Spruce Run upstream from the reservoir, and sediment was knee deep in places. Fish, frogs, salamanders and the aquatic insects they eat were harmed and killed. The quarry, in coordination with DEP, has hired an outside contractor to remove the sludge from the stream and the reservoir. The Spruce Run is classified by the state as a C1 trout production quality stream, so it's an important habitat. A Meet and Greet will be following the talk. Sierra Club meetings at NCB are open to all, so feel free to sign up or drop in. Refreshments will be available. This program is FREE and open to the public. r h y t h m a n D r h y m e a t I c s !
