I N O U R S C H O O L S : Su R Scho It's summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime! I hope you are enjoying the summer sun, family fun, time with friends and lots of outdoor time! We miss our students at SRS and are looking forward to seeing our returning students and meeting our new students on the first day of school, September 5, 2017! Hopefully, our SRS students are enjoying exciting adventures through reading every day, and recording summer reading on the SRS Summer Reading log. Additional copies may be found on our website at: https://goo.gl/ow6XyZ. Please be sure to look for the letter from Mrs. Goad being sent out via email at the end of August to find out who your child's new Preschool, Kindergarten or First Grade teacher will be! Please mark your calendars for August 31 for the School Visitation Day at SRS to see your child's new classroom and meet the teacher prior to the first day of school. More information will be included in the August mailing. Enjoy the sun and fun for the remaining weeks of summertime! Paick McGah Scho We are very busy preparing for an exciting new school year! Schedules, class lists, curriculum and learning activities are being developed. The custodians are working hard to ensure that the school is clean, organized and ready to welcome our new students. The School-Wide Theme for 2017-2018 continues to be "PMG-Where Friendships Grow!" During the new school year, students, staff and our mascot, Buddy the Bulldog, will participate in special lessons and activities focused on developing and expanding friendships. The theme will continue with our monthly all-school morning meetings, focusing on our words of the month. This year's monthly words are: September: Friendship, October: Respect, November: Perseverance, December: Generosity, January: Courage, February: Kindness, March: Confidence, April: Responsibility, May: Empathy, June: Honesty. Students will earn "Bulldog Bucks," as they demonstrate good character, and can redeem the bucks for special events and school store items. During this past school year, students redeemed their bucks for many fun things, including using the Principal's chair for the day, selecting school spirit days or the Friday fun song, and having lunch in the conference room. Selections will expand this school year with some special surprises. We look forward to meeting our new students and seeing our students from this past year, now as third graders. Enjoy the last month of summer! Rd V Scho What a wonderful way to end our year at Round Valley School! Students Emma P., Erin P. and Naglia S. organized 'Custodian Appreciation Day' at RVS. They made a giant card, which all students signed during lunch periods and presented this, along with a Power Presentation Slide Show, during our last All School Meeting. We will continue this celebration each October. We hope that you are enjoying these lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer! Our summer reading is posted on our Round Valley webpage below, visit for great reading ideas. http://rvs.ctsdnj.org/SchoolLinks/ school_links/summer_reading_lists Our RV garden is growing and expanding, and as you can imagine, the weeds like to pop up with the vegetables! If you would like to volunteer some of your weeding expertise, please contact the main office: 908.236.6341 or Mrs. High at: shigh@ctsdnj.org. O u r c u s t o d i a n s a r e b u s y s h i n i n g u p t h e classrooms and hallways getting the school ready for our August Visitation Day and for September! Families should expect an e-mail in mid-August with information on the upcoming school year. Enjoy your summer vacation and be safe! t Tohip Midd Scho On June 6, the faculty of the Clinton Township Middle School were proud to recognize the outstanding academic achievements, excellence in the fine arts and exemplary citizenship of our students. The following students received awards from local organizations and individuals. • CTMS Distinguished Students: Andrew Shore and Melanie Yakely • PTA Top Students: Andrew Fielding and Christina Shore • Scott VanDoren Awards: Rebecca Miceli and Ben Weiss • Gebhardt & Kiefer Award: Jordan Barge • Knights of Columbus Awards: Danielle Miceli and Jonathan Pan • William Colantano, Jr. Award: Emily Kenthack • Walter Schaufele Award: Kathleen Jordan • CTEA Character Counts Awards: Cole Schmidt, Alyssa Panella, Bobby Fasciano and Sydnee James Robotics Club – In June, CTMS Robotics Club students participated in the Middle School Technology and Design Challenge (held at Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School) and had an outstanding showing! The team of Michael Patuto and Justin Shapiro came in First Place in the Lego Only Sumo challenge, with Team Dankbot, consisting of Daniel Elwell, Sumanta Das and William Toledo coming in Second Place. In the Water Bottle Flip challenge, Danielle Miceli's robot flipped the water bottle and landed it on its cap in her first trial! Her robot took runner up in the competition, though it was the only robot to flip the bottle in the true spirit of "Bottle Flipping" - not just pushing it. We are very proud of her hard work and persistence on this original, difficult challenge. Enrichment – Congratulations to our Documentary Film Makers! At the 2017 Hunterdon Film Festival, CTMS took home 3 out of 5 trophies! • Second Place: Olivia Malok, Molly McDermott and Rachel Gottlieb for "Animal Testing" • Third Place: Nathan Gilvey and Garrett Gonzalez-Rivas for "Freaky Fears" • Judges' Choice: Carrie Lotito and Jenna Lebbing for "On the Air" (Other schools attending were Ethel Hoppock, Clinton-Glen Gardner, Califon Public and Woodglen.) Clinton Township School District Mission Statement: The Clinton Township School District, in partnership with the community, achieves excellence for each child by ensuring a meaningful and challenging educational experience in a supportive environment, developing life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens. Field Days at Round Valley were a rainbow of fun! A big THANK YOU to our PTA for providing students with T-shirts for our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders!
