Check out the program offerings at Hunterdon County Parks! • July 14: Flat Water Paddle. We'll be leisurely paddling on Round Valley from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm. Sign up and meet us at the boat launch! We supply everything, including safety instructions and maneuvering techniques. • Chief Park Naturalist, Tom Sheppard will be leading bird trips as well. June 3 will be Sussex County Birds ($25) and July 8 will find us looking for Breeding Birds of Hunterdon County ($20). These trips leave from the Arboretum, at 1020 Rt 31 in Lebanon. • Recreation Program Coordinator, Liz Fulmer, still has room on her trip to Bryn Athyn Historic District on her Landmarks in Light, ($15) trip on June 20. We'll leave the Arboretum at 7:00 pm and return around midnight! We'll visit Glencairn Museum, the Cairnwood Estate and Bryn Athyn Cathedral. • Relaxing Plein Air Landscape Painting: Summer Morning Light ($140)," six Wednesdays June 28 through August 2 or June 30 through August 4 at beautiful Echo Hill Park. Artists can immerse themselves in the woods, fields or pond area of the park from 9:00 am – noon, or stay as long as you like! • Ms Lena Shiffman will be offering Thursday Evening Art, (15+), Thursday evenings in August ($100). Class starts at 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm. All mediums and levels of ability are welcome. She'll be using the classroom at the Arboretum. We still have openings in our Summer Nature Program for children at Echo Hill and Teetertown. These day camps run from 9:30 pm – 3:30 pm. The Hunterdon Art Museum presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art, craft and design in a 19th century stone mill listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Founded in 1952, the Museum showcases works by internationally recognized and emerging contemporary artists. It also offers a dynamic schedule of art classes and workshops for children and adults, and a popular summer camp program. The Hunterdon Art Museum is in the heart of the quaint nineteenth century town of Clinton. Visitors can enjoy an afternoon of shopping in unique boutique shops, dine in restaurants that feature everything from light lunch to elegant dinners and visit the Red Mill Museum Village where you can learn about the industrial heritage of the region, all within a stone's throw of the Art Museum. Guided Gallery Tours: The Museum frequently offers guided tours on Sunday afternoon led by a volunteer docent. Tours will highlight exhibitions or the Museum's historic building. Please call the Museum in advance to be assured a tour is scheduled that day. School and Group Tours: Group tours can be tailored to meet your group's interests and needs. ArtZone: All visitors to the Museum are welcome to visit ArtZone, a family friendly space where children and adults can make art. ArtZone is free with admission. Most camps are half day, with a few full day programs. Lunch and aftercare available. Camps included are: Art and Music, Photography, Comic Book Creation, LEGO® Robotics, Claymation Animation, Fashion: Sewing and Construction, Nature Art, Acrylic Painting, Jewelry Making and Theater. Sunday, July 9, 10:00 am Experiments in Mark Making and Block Printing with Susan Meyer: Join artist Susan Meyer, featured in HAM's Art of Construction show, for a workshop exploring experimental mark making, block printing, and composition strategies. Saturday, July 22, 10:00 am K n o t - T y i n g a n d D i p D y i n g ; M a c r a m é Workshop with Crystal Gregory: Take a class with one of the artists featured in HAM's Art of Construction exhibition. In this workshop, you'll learn how to macramé using cotton cord to build a decorative pot hanger. After the macramé is completed, you'll dip dye giving a splash of bright color to your work.
