Here are some tips and tricks to get you going. SWINGSETS • Tighten bolts and nails and make sure everything is functioning correctly. If they're rusted, replace. • Make sure no sharp edges or splinters are sticking up. • Repair any damaged or rotted wood with wood putty or replacement wood. • Clean off any mold growth with household strength with a 1:9 solution of bleach and water. • For wooden swingsets, each spring after you have cleaned the equipment off for the summer, give it a coat of water sealer. Even pressure treated lumber can develop cracks which will let water in and begin the rotting process. • For metal swingsets, check for peeling paint and sharp edges. Sand and re-paint any affected areas. • Keep all equipment clean throughout the season. SANDBOXES There are so many different kinds of sandboxes: wooden or plastic, indoor, covered, raised and homemade. The thing to remember about sandboxes is to keep them clean throughout the season. • For outdoor sandboxes, make sure to keep covered when not in use! This keeps them dry, clean from blowing leaves and keeps animals from using the sandbox as a toilet. • Don't let the kids eat or drink in the sandbox. Food droppings will attract unwanted critters, insects or grow mold. • If your child is still in a diaper, make sure the diaper is tightly fit as they sit in the sand. A dirty diaper in a sandbox will certainly not make the sand any cleaner. I've been a freelance copywriter for various advertising clients for years. Quite often, I'm crazy busy. Other times I'm "crickets chirping" quiet. My sister mentioned that a friend of hers started being an Elder Companion years ago, and was really enjoying it. Not only was she making extra money to help pay the bills, she was fostering relationships with her clients that brought an unexpected sense of joy. We have much to learn from those who've walked this life before us, and I know that my warm personality and contagious sense of humor will serve me well. So, if you're in need of an amazing copywriter, please visit my website at: www.DWolfPortfolio. com. If you need somebody to spend time with a Senior in your life who needs a good laugh, a ride to a doctor's appointment, or help preparing a meal, call me at: 973.214.2870. I look forward to hearing from you! Please join us at the 19th Anderson H o u s e G o l f O u t i n g o n M o n d a y , June 5 at the Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club in Whitehouse Station.
