Clinton First Aid & Rescue Squad and Clinton Fire Department will jointly celebrate some big anniversaries with a big May 20 parade. About 35 fire companies, rescue squads and ambulance companies will join in the festivities that honor the Squad, which turns 50 in 2018 and the Fire Department, which is 125 years old this year. Fun fact: Many states have communities named Clinton – fire companies from Clinton, New York and Clinton, Connecticut are coming to celebrate with Clinton, NJ! Several old military Jeeps will also roll in the parade. Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops will march; local elected officials will ride a float. The North Hunterdon High School Golden Lions Marching Band will be among the bands strutting their musical stuff along the parade route! The parade starts at 12:30 pm at Water and Halstead streets, near the Halstead Street Bridge. It ends at Hunts Mill Park, but the fun will continue! Popular rock, blues and country cover band Craig Sailer Project will perform at Hunts Mill Park. Hot dogs, beer and other light refreshments will be served, parade participant prizes will be awarded and the winner of the 50/50 raffle will be announced. Raffle tickets cost $5 and are available prior to parade day from any CFARS or CFD member. They will also be for sale at the parade. Commemorative coins and t-shirts, on sale at the parade's website now, will be available for purchase while supplies last. "It's going to be a really fun family event," said CFARS Volunteer EMT Becky Setnicky, a parade organizer who has been working on the parade for nearly three years. "There will be something for everyone to enjoy." Learn more about the parade at: www.ClintonFireRescueParade.com. Call Susan Hall– Your Kind of Agent! She really made our day! "Good morning -- I have just completed reading your lovely (April 2017) issue of the Clinton Township Newsletter, and may I say t h a t t h e a r t w o r k o n t h e front cover is beautiful! It is one of the best issues you have written. It's excellent! So much information -- so much going on -- and every detail! Very nice reporting! Thank you for your lovely service. I always read (the Clinton Township Newsletter) from cover to cover but this one really impressed me. I think I took longer to read this one than I ever did take to read any of them. Wonderful! Thank you so much! Sincerely, Eliabeth J., Oak Knoll Village, Clinton Township" – And, THANK YOU for reading us, Elizabeth! We are so grateful for you and all of our readers! – CTNL t e w k S b u r y l a n d t r u S t n e e d S y o u r H e l P ! The Tewksbury Land Trust, formed in 1993, has purchased and preserved seven properties encompassing 170 acres in Tewksbury. This land is open to the public for passive recreation, but to maximize use of the properties invasive species and deadfall need to be removed and then trails built. Your help is needed to carry out this plan! The first scheduled event is Saturday, April 29 (Rain date: April 30) at the recently acquired Jeffrey property (15 Water St. in Cokesbury) and will run from 9:30 am to noon. This is a beautiful 42-acre parcel with three terraced fields and a forested area. We will remove invasive species such as multi-flora rose, Japanese barberry and autumn olive so be sure to wear long pants and work gloves, and bring loppers, pruners and shovels if you have them. After a brief tour of the property, handouts and refreshments will be provided, so please RSVP to Stefani Spence at stefani@ hunterdonlandtrust.org or at 908-237-4582 x206. This is great opportunity for you to become familiar with the property and meet some neighbors while giving back to your community!
