On Saturday, February 4, the Hunterdon Symphony will present their annual Concert for Young People. This year Peter and the Wolf returns to the concert stage at 3:00 pm at Clinton Township Middle School, 34 Grayrock Road, Clinton. This beloved music by Sergei Prokofiev was written in 1936, and a narrator tells the story of Peter and his adventures to the accompaniment of the orchestra. For this performance there will be a signer for the hearing impaired. The Symphony, conducted by Lawrence Kursar, will also perform music from "The Chronicles of Narnia" with clarinet soloist Zachary Hann. The performance will be followed by an "instrument petting zoo" in the lobby, a popular feature of the children's concerts in the past. Members of the Symphony, many of whom are music teachers, will be on hand to guide young people in trying out various instruments. Hunterdon Musical Instrument Corp., located in Flemington, is again loaning the instruments that will be available for this hands-on experience.
