Much of the art on display is edible chocolate. Paintings are handmade, hand painted solid blocks of chocolate. Bowls and flowers are delicate works of art also created from chocolate. And, if the chocolate art were not enough, there are solid pieces of chocolate, filled truffles, chocolate and nut barks, meltaways and so much more! All the chocolates, including the art, are made exclusively from the world's best Swiss, Belgian and French style chocolates. Carol's also uses many single-origin chocolates, chocolates that are produced from cacao beans that have been harvested from a single plantation, region, or country, and they contain the nuances of the trees and environments from which they are harvested. If you thought that all chocolates were basically the same, at Carol's you are in for a pleasant surprise! And for those who want to know more about chocolate, Carol's even offers chocolate making classes, chocolate/ wine pairing classes, and chocolate tastings. One thing is for certain: Carol's Creative Chocolatez isn't your typical chocolate shop. One visit and you will be hooked! Carol's Creative Chocolatez is located at 24 Division Street in Somerville. Founded in 1983 by the late G. Tracy Ginsburg, the Home offers a holistic faith-based treatment program for women 18 years of age and older who want to break free from the vicious cycle of addiction and recover from its devastating effects on their lives. Our services are offered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, or the ability to pay. This year we will be holding our 20th Annual Fundraising Banquet, "Moving Mountains of Addiction One Stone at a Time" at the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in Perryville, New Jersey. Your support will make a difference in helping us continue to serve women in need. Would you consider placeing an ad or personal message in the Program Journal? We do hope that you will join us at the banquet! For further inquiries, please contact Robin or Valarie at 908.806.7913 via ext. 326 and ext. 323, or email: info@ goodnewshome.org. During the Victorian era from 1837 to 1901, grieving families often engaged in elaborate, and what might be regarded as macabre, customs to commemorate their dearly departed. Take a step back in time and visit a household in mourning in the late 1800s. The rooms of the historic 1760 Turner House at 117 VanSyckles Road in Hampton will be set up as they would have been for a Victorian mourning. Costumed docents will be on hand to greet visitors and guide them on tours of the rooms. Although topics like grave robbing, vampire panics and fear of being buried alive may seem more suited to Halloween and horror movies than historic themed tours, these and other Victorian beliefs and superstitions regarding death are based in history. The tours will explore these and other topics using artifacts from the collection at Turner House as well as antique items on loan from other sources and reproductions. These items include a collection of vintage mourning jewelry from The Vintage Shoppe in downtown Clinton, and a "toe pincher" coffin from long time local resident Doug Martin, a retired funeral director. Requested donation is $10 per person. Tours start at 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30 pm on October 9 and 16. Light refreshments will be served. Reservations are required so please contact Union Forge Heritage Association at: UFHAevents@hotmail.com or: 908.713.1439 for more information and to make reservations.
