During classroom lessons, students practiced elaborating on responses to the questions they were asked during an interview as well as being confident and closing the interview with a handshake and a thank you. Students also kept and maintained a 'checking account.' They learned about withholding taxes, payday, rents, and business profits. Excerpt from the BIZ NJ Radio Reporter's daily report: "After the Mayor and the CEO of Investors Bank were interviewed, it became clear that they love JABizTown". Danica, the Mayor, said she liked how she got to see "...what it's like to be an adult". In addition, she stated that she loved the independence here and watching over the citizens. Danica specifically described JA BizTown as "really fun". Jason, the CEO of Investors Bank, said he liked that he got to sign papers and work hard. Also, he decided to work in the bank because he wanted to help people with their money. Kieran S. –"I think BizTown was a great experience that every kid should witness. It teaches kids about working hard and how to be responsible. I would love to come back to see if I could make more of a profit. In addition, I would love to explore the different jobs in JA BizTown. This was an extraordinary experience that I would like to go through again." Paige B. –"The thing I liked most about BizTown was the feeling o f a c c o m p l i s h m e n t when I got something done." Tara B. –"I am feeling exhilarated! My parents have been working in similar fields to my job today. I am very involved in their work life. Having this exclusive look into the real world and being able to compare it to the JA BizTown simulation has been truly amazing. It is wonderful to gain this understanding." Mia P. –"I have received a gift from my time at BizTown. This gift is maturity. I was thrown into this position and at first I was scared of all of the tasks but now I feel like I am mature enough to handle it. I work in a non- profit and I like serving others who need help." I hope to build up the confidence to be a real CEO." tonTohip MiddSchool The Annual Hunterdon Film Festival was held at CTMS on Tuesday, May 24 and our students took home 3 out of 5 trophies! All the filmmakers did an outstanding job, but we want to give a special shout-out to: Zach Kesselhaut - 2nd place Bobby Fasciano, Adarsh Narayanan and Vidram Kumar - 3rd place Sana Sarker and Peri Kaplan - Honorable Mention Our Annual Trip to Gettysburg was held on Monday, June 1 – it was a great success! The 8th grade students who attended visited the museum and were able to experience the battlefields with two incredible guides, and also toured the home of Jenny Wade, the only civilian killed during the 3-day battle. We are saddened to say goodbye to three veteran CTMS teachers who are retiring and leaving the district a f t e r a c o m b i n e d 80 years of service to students to the Clinton Township School District.
