Now that the winter season is upon us, residents should be aware of some of the most
common injuries associated with winter storms, including:
Car accidents due to slippery roads • Carbon Monoxide Poisoning • Slips and falls due to icy sidewalks • Frostbite
• Being struck by falling icicles, tree limbs and utility poles • Electrocution due to downed power lines
• Falls from roofs or skylights while removing snow • Roof collapse under weight of snow or ice
• Burns from fires• Exhaustion • Dehydration • Back injuries or heart attack while shoveling snow
The Township encourages residents to be sure vehicles are in peak working condition, and also to
keep an emergency kit in your vehicle which includes the following items: blankets, cell phone, windshield
scraper/snow brush/flashlights, extra gloves and winter clothes, chains, matches,
traction aids (sand or cat litter), emergency flares, jumper cables, snacks, water and road maps.
Taking extra care during the snow season can ensure a safe winter for you and your family.
