The Center for Educational Advancement
(CEA), in conjunction with The Boggs Center on
Developmental Disabilities, is hosting a training
series in Hunterdon County for those interested
in educational opportunities for Supported
Employment. Supported Employment refers
to service provision for people with disabilities,
specifically assisting them with obtaining and
maintaining employment.
"Employment Specialist Foundation: Basic
Knowledge and Skills" is the redesigned
certification series for New Jersey employment
specialists/job coaches. It is a newly developed
four-day series of interactive, competency-based
workshops designed for beginning Employment
S p e c i a l i s t s w o r k i n g f o r a D V R S S u p p o r t e d
Employment Vendor and/or DDD Community Service
Provider offering Supported Employment Services.
The content would also be beneficial to school job
coaches and transition coordinators. Participants
will learn best-practice, evidence-based approaches
to all phases of supported employment services
(assessment and discovery, job development, job
coaching, and follow along for job retention).
The four-day training program will take place at
the Hunterdon County Library on separate days in
February and March. You must be registered to

designated University Center for Excellence
in Developmental Disabilities and is part of
Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School,
