On January 7, the GLBT of HC hosts speaker Jeanne LoCicero from the American Civil Liberties Union. The meeting runs from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Clinton Library at 65 Halsted Street in Clinton. The American Civil Liberties Union is the leading national organization dedicated to defending and extending civil liberties for all people in this country. The Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution would only be well-meaning promises if people did not fight to protect them. The ACLU defends hundreds of ordinary people every day, in courts across the country, when their rights to equal treatment, fairness, privacy, freedom of speech or religion are threatened. They staunchly support every person's right to make personal decisions - without government interference - about religion, political ideals, reproductive choice, marriage and other family and lifestyle matters. They are working to make sure that emerging technologies do not diminish our rights to privacy and that freedom of speech is protected in cyberspace. The ACLU is a leader in the fight for equal opportunity regardless of skin color, gender, or sexual orientation. Since our founding in 1920, the ACLU has learned that liberty must be defended over and over again. That's why ACLU attorneys stand before the United States Supreme Court more often than anyone else except the government itself. And for every case we bring before the Supreme Court, we bring hundreds more nationwide to lower courts and community government boards. Visit: www.ACLU-NJ.org for more information. For more info about the GLBT of HC, call Matthew Loscialo at: 908.300.1058, email: MatthewL@ student.fdu.edu, or visit: www.GLBTofHunterdonCountyofNJcom. a s p e r g e r F r i e n d s Asperger Friends, now over ten years old, is a support and social group for teens, adults and parents who have, or are related to, persons who have Asperger Syndrome. Asperger Syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger Disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. At our January meeting we'll be discussing high school, college and/or trade school. We'll also be discussing jobs: how to find a job and how to keep it. Also up for discussion is the issue of housing for adults with Asbergers. We offer refreshments, speakers, information, discussion topics movies and occasional outings. Asperger Friends meets on the third Sunday of each month (unless otherwise noted on the website) at HealthQuest in Flemington (310 Hwy 31 North) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. For more information, please call Carolyn or Matthew Loscialo: 908.236.6153 or visit: www. AspergerFriends.com. Please check the websites of both clubs for any updated meeting cancellations notifications due to unforeseen winter weather events. n Reach Over 14,000 Local Consumers Monthly n Change Your Message Monthly n Have Your Ad Designed – Free! n Run a Small Article (about 150 words) – Free! n Have your ad linked to your website at: www.ClintonTwpNewsletter.com email us at: Want your message seen by over 14,000 readers?
