Leo started his taekwondo career when he was 7 years old. During his 19 year tenure at the Clinton Taekwondo Academy he has achieved the 3rd Degree Black Belt, and during the last three years he has participated at the national level, most recently at the US Open in Florida. As a result of his achievements he was invited by the World Association Karate Organization, (WACO) National team for tryouts. He successfully passed them and in August he was formally invited to join the National Team. WACO only accepts National Teams. Each country member can present only one competitor in each weight class. Each competitor has gone through a long selection in his country before competing in WAKO tournaments and normally is the national champ of his weight class in that particular kickboxing style. WAKO offers seven different styles: semi contact, light contact, kick-light, full contact, low-kick, K1 Rules, and musical forms: four styles are on tatami or mats, 3 in the ring. Today WAKO can count on 118 affiliated nations in the five continents, and unites the best national kickboxing organizations. WAKO has today 85 affiliated national federations which are officially recognized by either their National Olympic Committees or by their Highest Government Sport Authorities. Leonardo will be participating in the category of Light Weight and Continuous Light Contact Kickboxing. Good Luck Leo! Your financial goals. Our global resources. Dr. Richard Veit's lecture will discuss NJ's Native American heritage and particularly the incredible artifact collection of Hiram E. Deats, now curated by the Hunterdon County Historical Society. The collection illustrates Hunterdon County's prehistoric past and highlights efforts of early collectors, like Deats, to save and interpret relics of New Jersey's first inhabitants, the Lenape Indians, and their ancestors. Professor Veit, PhD, teaches anthropology and is chair of the History and Anthropology Department at Monmouth University. His books include the award-winning publication, Digging New Jersey's Past: Historical Archeology in the Garden State. The Hunterdon County Historical Society's collection of Native American artifacts is one of the largest and most impressive collections in our State. Dating back almost 10,000 years, the collection was amassed by several collectors. Hiram E. Deats, the Society's founder, bequeathed it to the Society upon his death in 1963. A large part of the collection is still housed in the original exhibit cases on the third floor of the Flemington Public Library where the original offices of the Society once were. A portion of the collection is also housed in the Society's archive building and Doric House Museum. Dr. Veit's lecture will follow a brief business meeting. Refreshments will be served. Parking is available on the street and in the public lots along Main Street. The HC Historical Society was founded in 1885 to collect, preserve and share the history of the entire County of Hunterdon. The Society operates the Hiram E. Deats Memorial Research Library and The Doric House Museum on Main Street in Flemington and the archive building on River Road.
