1 3 N o v e m b e r 2 0 1 5 Rd V Scho We have fallen into FALL! Students have been busy learning and sharing their learning with the entire school during our All School Meetings. One thing we are particularly proud of is our Round Valley Garden. So far this year we have d o n a t e d c l o s e to 50 pound of produce to the Open Cupboard Food Pantry! Our 6th grade teachers and students e n j o y e d o u r P T A s p o n s o r e d a u t h o r ' s v i s i t w i t h J o r d a n S o n n e b l i c k ! M r . S o n n e b l i c k shared his journey as a middle school teacher and author. He had a great sense of humor and shared that we all need to find something we are passionate about, practice it, and share it in a positive way with others. He then conducted a writer's workshop for students. Parents came back to school to enjoy "Lunch with Parents" Day!This day coincides with our Book Fair and a good time was had by all. Parents enjoyed sharing their lunchtime with their children and then visiting recess and/or the Scholastic Book Fair. Each month Round Valley School focuses on a Word of the Month. September was RESPONSIBILITY, October ~ RESPECT, and November ~ COMPASSION. We try to remember and show how we can use these words through actions at school and at home. We are proud of our students and how they apply these words to their lives. I N O U R S C H O O L S continued : ton Tohip Midd School CTMS students participated in Week of Respect activities throughout the week of October 5-9 and created an awesome Respect Wall ! The students at CTMS successfully raised $3,357.40 during the week of October 5-9th to benefit Gilda's Club. The CTMS staff were truly humbled to see kids empty their piggy banks, share their babysitting money and, of course, ask their parents for help in this endeavor. The winning 7th and 8th grade homerooms each received a pizza party for raising the most money, however it quickly became obvious to us that although everyone loves pizza, they truly joined together over a cause that they all have in one way or another been touched by. CTMS is a busy place after 2:30 full of co-curricular sports and after-school clubs! The Fall season of sports events offers opportunities for students to engage in Boys' and Girls' Soccer, Volleyball and Cross Country. In winter, we will offer both Boys' and Girls' Basketball. The CTMS Snow Hawks Ski & Snowboarding Club will run for six weeks in the winter. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to learn how to ski, snowboard or improve their skill level. Our after-school clubs span a variety of areas! The CTMS Drama Club is pleased to announce that they will feature the play Bye Bye Birdie on March 10, 11 and 12. Auditions for parts and stage crew occurred in October. In Art Club, students work on a variety of projects both individual and collaborative that includes sculpture, painting, printmaking and using the pottery wheel. In Movie/Technology Club, students have an opportunity to be creative and learn more about technology. They will be working on movies, digital photography, graphic design and solar race cars. Some of our other year round offerings are: the CTMS Yearbook Club, Guitar Club and The Garden Club. Please mark your calendars for upcoming Clinton Township Middle School Concerts! All concerts will take place in the Auditorium and will start at 7:00 pm. December 10: CTMS Choral Concert and December 17: CTMS Band Concert. We hope to see you there! The Clinton Township School District, in partnership with the community, achieves excellence for each child by ensuring a meaningful and challenging educational experience in a supportive environment, developing life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens. t Tohip Scho DictMi Statemt: t Tohip Scho DictMi Statemt: Students welcomed Mr. Sonnenblick with artistic interpretation of characters from one of his books that they are reading in class.
