By Anne Thornton, President, MSI Plumbing & Remodeling This spring is the perfect time of year to remodel your home. Here are some ideas to think about. Go Green! Seek out simple and easy ways to incorporate various aspects of "green living" into your daily life – from energy efficient appliances and lighting to low- VOC paint that improves air quality. Look Up! Transform attics into comfortable bedrooms, play areas and guest suites to gain more livable space. Get Sunny! Install skylights and sun tubes to revitalize dark rooms, stairwells and closet spaces with natural light. Walk Right In! Build a spacious walk-in closet suite, with high-end cabinets, mirrors, lighting, dressers and a center island. Curbless/No threshold Showers! Curbless showers are not only good for safety but they look amazing. Keeping the floor of the shower at the same height of the bathroom floor adds safety and makes the room feel bigger. Is That Real? Use surprisingly realistic faux stone to enhance your home's curb appeal. Work Time! Convert unused space into a comfortable and highly functional home office, including custom cabinetry for storage, audio/visual/telecommunication connections and task lighting. Going Down? Turn basements into home theaters, game rooms, wet bars and guest suites. Any one of these projects will add value to your home and your life!
