Chabad of Hunterdon County offers a unique summer camp experience for children ages 3-13. Camp Gan Israel located in the heart of Hunterdon County at the Acorn Montessori School in Lebanon, NJ Is part of the world's largest network of Jewish summer camps. Camp Gan Israel (CGI) offers an array of fun summer activities including sports, swimming, trips, and professional programs and entertainment such as Zumba, pottery, glass works and Mad Science. CGI is known for their highly trained and experienced staff with a high counselor camper ratio. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun experience for each camper. CGI directors, Shloime and Chana Greene, have more than a decade of combined experience working with education and youth. They have directed camps in Israel, California, Florida, Seattle and New York. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge to create a dynamic, fun filled summer experience for campers throughout Central Jersey. "Summer is a critical time in a child's life. A successful summer camp experience is more than a break from studies to let loose. Every activity is a major learning experience," said Chana Greene of the CGI camp. "Our program is designed to let our camper's minds freely explore nature, indulge in craft projects, enjoy sports and water activities, all while building character and responsibility in a relaxed, fun atmosphere." Campers at CGI are divided into age groups for individualized attention and supervision. Under the guidance of dedicated counselors, the children of each group work together as a team and learn the value of friendship and camaraderie. Summer 2015 features a fun filled schedule with exciting trips including; Dorney Park, Bounce U, Art Attack, Laser Tag, Bowling, Land of Make Believe, Museums, and more. This is in addition to swimming three times a week with certified lifeguards at HealthQuest in Flemington. Our amazing in-house schedule features: Sports activities, Kids in the Kitchen, Pottery Painting, Comedy skits, talent shows, and carnival days. These programs challenge children to develop their innate talents. Exciting activities, stories, games, contests and Friday Shabbat parties are all part of the unique Camp Gan Israel experience. CGI innovative arts and crafts counselors teach the children to be creative and imaginative. CGI runs from June 29 - July 24 at Acorn Montessori, 1222 Rte 31, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Proceeds benefit The Family Afterward, a Freedom House program dedicated to reunit- ing women in recovery from substance abuse with their children. Funds raised will help women like Jessie. As a direct result of Jessie's addiction she lost custody of three of her children. She came to The Family Afterward with her newborn son, and was being given a chance by the DCPP to raise her son, but only if she could stay free of alcohol and drugs, secure a safe place to live and support herself and her son. The Family Afterward was her only hope. While in the program Jessie learned to be accountable and respon - sible. She worked and saved money which allowed Jesse and her son to transition to an apartment. Today Jessie is a sober productive member of society, working, maintaining her household and being a loving mother to her son. Your participation in our 5K Run and Walk on May 9 makes a difference! Freedom House accepts nothing less than total ab - stinence, and there is no leeway given for relapses within the residential program. Consequently, there is no tolerance for rule infractions because unfortunately there is typically a waiting list of men standing behind every man that occupies a bed in our halfway house in New Jersey. Each year we must turn away over 300 men who were referred to us. We are concerned for these men because they have a history of relapses or a minimal prognosis, and may continue to revolve in the system without getting the needed treatment and supports for lasting recovery. Additionally, we are typically only able to accommodate 20% of the indigent clients applying to our drug and alcohol treatment center.
