Recycling is mandatory, and you may choose to contract with a trash hauler who provides this service or you may opt to transport your recyclables to the County Transfer Station yourself. The Transfer Station is located on Petticoat Road, just north of Route 22. The County Transfer Station accommodates "single stream," i.e., co-mingled recycle materials. Residents and collectors who utilize the Transfer Station are no longer required to separate recycled materials. At the same time, the types of materials accepted have also been expanded. Acceptable materials now include cardboard, newspaper, junk mail, office paper, chipboard (e.g. cereal boxes), brown paper bags, phone books, paperback and hard covered books, narrow neck plastic bottles numbered 1-7, aluminum beverage cans, tin/bi-metal cans and food and beverage glass bottles and jars. There is also a separate container for dry cell batteries. More de - tails are provided on the County's website at http://www.co.hunterdon.nj.us/solidwaste/recyclingprogram.htm. d P W F a C i L i t y : The Department of Public Works will be open the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from April 9 through November 8, 2014; the hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents may drop two free loads of brush per year. Residents may purchase additional brush tickets for $10.00 each. They are only available in the Clerk's office during normal working hours, and cannot be purchased at the DPW yard. The yard is located at 117 Annandale-High Bridge Rd. The law does state that the failure of occupants and/or owners of residential properties, or a residential dwell- ing complex, or owner/renter of a commercial establishment, to comply with the rules and regulations of this ordinance shall result in a fine of not less than fifty ($50) or more than $250 per violation. We thank you for your recycling efforts! r e C y C L i n g r e m i n d e r h u n t e r d o n C o u n t y ' s v e t e r a n s m e d a L P r o g r a m Calling all Honorary Veterans! If you live in Hunterdon County and have not received recognition for your service, please call Hunterdon County Clerk's office Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at 908-788-1221 to register for our county Veterans Medal program. Hunterdon County Veterans Medal program was instituted in 2002 to honor and recognize all of our Counties' veterans. Over 1,200 medals have been awarded. Freeholder John King is pursuing, resurrecting and updating the Hunterdon County Veterans Medal program. The Hunterdon County Veterans Medal program was instituted in 2002 to honor and recognize all of our Counties' veterans. While over 1,200 medals have already been awarded, knowing there are about 7,000 veterans in our County, there are many more additional medals to be presented. Therefore we need your assistance in identifying these additional 6,000 +/- veterans. Please survey your Township to determine if they have received this Medal and associated documentation, and provide the names and addresses for those who have not, to Freeholder King and/ or County Clerk Melfi. Admittedly, a small percentage of veterans belong to any veteran service organization (VSO), so please ask your neighbors, family and friends regarding this subject. Thank you! Grow your own fresh vegetables and herbs, while interacting socially with others who share your interest in this wonderful activity. Some plots are still available for the Clinton Township Community Garden located across the northern border of Bundt Park. Full plots are $60 and half plots are $30 for the season.
