Hunterdon Hills Ballet's The Clinton Nutcracker returns for its ninth
year, bringing holiday magic to Clinton Township Middle School
December 19–21.
"The excitement for Nutcracker begins the moment summer ends,"
says Elaine Matthews, Artistic Director and Owner of Hunterdon Hills Ballet. "From
our youngest cast members to our high school veterans, this production continues
to grow in artistry and heart."
This year's cast features Addison Lissner and Ashley Sims as Clara,
and Riho Yokogawa and Emilia Kuhn as the Sugar Plum Fairy, with
professional dancers Christopher Bloom as Herr Drosselmeier and Trevor
Miles as the Cavalier.
Addison says, "What I love most about being Clara is creating magical
memories for myself and others. My favorite moment is stepping into the
snow scene surrounded by falling snowflakes — it's pure magic." Ashley adds, "I
am excited to perform Clara's pas de deux because I have always loved the music;
it is beautiful."
These dancers look forward every year to this now treasured
community tradition. Emilia explains, "Performing as Sugar Plum in my final
Nutcracker with HHB is a dream come true. This tradition brings our community
together and has given me friendships and memories I'll cherish forever."
There is so much to look forward to! Riho tells us that "dancing in the beautiful
costumes among the set designs is a large part of the specialness of this experience."
Audiences will delight in local touches — from projections of
downtown Clinton to the historic Red Mill, a Hunterdon County hot
air balloon, Mother Ginger towering above her Polichinelles, and the
beloved growing Christmas tree. This along with other wonderful surprises
make this production an unforgettable one year after year. Tickets and group rates
are available at: www.HunterdonHillsBallet.com.
