This year, The Clinton Nutcracker presented by Hunterdon Hills Ballet will be even bigger and more magical than ever before. Now in its eighth year, The Clinton Nutcracker, with stunning talent and local ties, will run Friday, December 20 through Sunday, December 22 at the Clinton Township Middle School theater. "Each year, the HHB students are so excited to jump into Nutcracker as soon as summer ends. There is a buzz in the air from the youngest cast members to our high school veterans. As we continue to build upon the tradition we have started here, we always look to see how else we can add to the experience," says Elaine Matthews, Artistic Director and Owner of Hunterdon Hills Ballet. The story of The Clinton Nutcracker is highlighted by the local talent of the Hunterdon Hills Ballet trained dancers, ages 4-18. What makes this performance so special is that it is told with the use of projections that transport you back in time, set pieces that include the bridge of downtown Clinton adorned with toy soldiers, falling snowflakes that waltz in front of our historic Clinton Red Mill, a Hunterdon County hot air balloon, Mother Ginger standing over 10 feet tall with her Polichinelles emerging from beneath her voluminous skirt, and the show-stopper: a magical, growing Christmas tree! Additionally, professional NYC dancers being part of this production offers a unique experience for the young performers. Riho Yokogawa (14) of Annandale, who is reprising her role as Clara, looks forward to the Pas de Deux dance (partnered) with Christopher Bloom, a professional NYC dancer and the Nutcracker Prince, returning for his seventh year as the town's toymaker, Herr Drosselmeier, and the Nutcracker Prince. The Sugar Plum Fairies this year are partnering with Joey Columbo from NYC. Gabriella Scangamor (17) of Clinton Township, a graduating senior, is embracing the special moment of dancing the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy. To these local students, performing in Hunterdon Hills Ballet's yearly The Clinton Nutcracker has become a tradition, a family and something so special. Emilia Kuhn (17) of Lebanon Township, reflects "After spending so many years at HHB, and having the opportunity to perform for years in The Clinton Nutcracker, I have come to understand what a truly special experience this is." Also dancing the role of Clara this year is Addison Lissner (15) of Bethlehem Township. Join in this enchanting event and witness the talent, beauty, and magic of The Clinton Nutcracker. It's perfect for families, groups and individuals of all ages, offering a heartwarming performance that's not to be missed. Tickets are available at: www.HunterdonHillsBallet.com.
