That's the joy of Hanukkah." —Unknown W o M e n ' s f o r u M : s H A r i n g W i s d o M Dear Ladies, As I write this (in late October) I'm amazed at how quickly this year seems to have flown by. For WF it has been a rich and rewarding year. Our eclectic mix of topics have been well received, according to attendance numbers. We've garnered from within our own membership experts and professionals who have enriched, with their wisdom, our offerings through panels and extensively researched book discussions. Our trips have been well subscribed. And, our membership has been steadily growing! Don't know if it's coincidental or evolutionary, but the more our discussions deepen, sharpen and encourage participation the more our membership numbers rise. Also, Dillon Library's excellent publicity/ promotion program and our monthly appearance in the Clinton Township Newsletter (a local glossy with an impressive circulation) give us good exposure for which we are very grateful. For our last month of the year, the month of holidays and high spirits, we'll start our celebrations with a luncheon featuring the talents of one of movieland's major A-listers, director Woody Allen. His take on the Jazz Age in Paris is one of his greatest achievements. In the film Midnight In Paris, we're treated to a dreamscape, circa 1920's, when the brightest lights in the City of Light were the young artists, musicians, and writers, many of them American expats, who surrendered to the muse by day and partied into the wee hours by night. Hemingway, Picasso, Dali, Fitzgerald, Cole Porter and many more made Paris their inspiration and their playground. Woody Allen has brilliantly woven a paean to the magical city with a romantic comedy and a vicarious visit to the most delicious and glamorous period in modern artistic history. Jazz Age Luncheon, Thursday December 5, at noon. Dillon Library, Bedminster, NJ. Admission $20. *To register see below. Late December is a glittering, joyful/sentimental time. It's almost as if life hits the "pause button" and for a couple of weeks we give ourselves permission to slow down, look back in gratitude for family, friends, colleagues, our accomplishments, milestones - and celebrate or honor it all. With that in mind, for our end of the year event we'll take a Holiday Trip to the Brooklyn Museum for their special exhibit SOLID GOLD!! As per their publicity, "Opening on the occasion of the Brooklyn Museum's 200th anniversary, the exhibit features more than 500 works. Paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and fashion design will all be represented. Solid Gold will immerse you in one of humankind's most dazzling obsessions." Trip to the Brooklyn Museum, Thursday December 19, leaving Dillon Library, Bedminster NJ at 9am. Return pick-up at the museum 3pm. Admission 45. (Does not include entry to museum.)*To register see below. Upcoming Dates: January 9, 23. To register for events reach us at: womensforumusa@gmail.com or call the Dillon Library: 908.234.2325.
