Over fifty years ago, a Detroit businessman elicited generous responses when he asked 100 business friends to contribute $200 each to the family of a young local police officer who was fatally wounded in the line of duty. This selfless act was the beginning of the 200 Club. The 200 Club of Hunterdon County was established in 1976 as a New Jersey not-for-profit corporation to provide financial assistance to families of any police officer, fire, rescue and emergency management personnel providing such services to the citizens of Hunterdon County who have lost their lives or become disabled in the line of duty. The Club stands ready at a moment's notice to provide assistance should the need ever arise. The Club is governed by an 18-member Board of Trustees consisting of Hunterdon and Warren County residents who serve three-year terms. Officers of the Club include President Peter DeLoria, Vice President Mary Melfi, Secretary Rich Reiner and Treasurer Les Hall. The Club currently has over 200 members. Anyone interested in supporting and furthering the mission and goals of the 200 Club of Hunterdon County is eligible for membership. All prospective members must be sponsored by a member in good standing and have the approval of the 200 Club of Hunterdon County Board of Trustees. Initial dues are $200 per member and annual dues of $100. Each member receives identification from the 200 Club of Hunterdon County establishing his/her membership. The Club enjoys the full support and endorsement of police, fire and emergency service organizations in Hunterdon County and throughout the State, including the New Jersey State Police. For membership information, log on to: www.200ClubOfHunterdon.org or email: 200clubofhunterdon@gmail.com. The 200 Club receives its income from dues, continuing annual support of its members, and the Golf Tournament. The Hunterdon County Police Chiefs Association represents all municipal Police Chiefs in Hunterdon. The goals of the Association are: • Assist and coordinate law enforcement resources and expertise. • Foster existing relationships and create new partnerships. • Raise funds to support community activities. • Promote professional law enforcement standards. • Share information and address contemporary issues in our communities.
