We also need to change the clocks – again – because daylight Saving Time begins on March 10. I thought we were done with that (in my opinion) nonsense. Remember the Sunshine Act that we were all so excited about? "The Sunshine Protection Act is a proposed United States federal law that would make U.S. daylight saving time permanent, meaning the time would no longer change twice per year. The bill has been proposed during several sessions of Congress. In 2022, the Senate passed the bill by unanimous consent..." (wikipedia). Well, so much for that, it wasn't passed in the House. Regardless of what time we have the clocks set, I want to point your attention to the upcoming House Tours of Historic Flemington. I took this tour last year and I was thrilled by the not-so-hidden architectural gems that this town has to offer, and was grateful for the homeowners who generously opened their doors and allowed the public to see their beautifully designed spaces, inside and out. I always love a home and/or garden tour; my husband calls it "snooping in other people's properties, with permission." So be it! I'll always say "yes" to a great house tour – and I have high hopes for Flemington's refresh, renewal, and revitalization. As Kennedy once said, "A rising tide buoys all ships," and I would add to that, a phoenix-like revival of a town lifts the entire county. As you know, I think we in Hunterdon live in the best county ever. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick (FSSP) are celebrating the tenth anniversary of their St. Patrick's Day Parade this month, with Mr. Stephen Carroll as 2024 FSSP Parade Grand Marshal and Mr. Brian Manning as 2024 Irishman of the Year. As an inaugural board member of the CrimeStoppers of Hunterdon County, I was honored to walk in the very first parade in 2014, which seems like just yesterday. The Friendly Sons group is founded on three tenets: Culture, Community and Camaraderie. The FSSP is partnering with the Town of Clinton, Hunterdon County Rotaries Clubs, United Way, and the Red Mill Museum Village to present the Irish Festival Weekend on March 8-10 with multiple concerts, and social, and family-friendly events – the entire community is invited! The festivities are highlighted with the St. Patrick's Day Parade stepping off at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 10, in downtown Clinton. I hope this tradition continues forever, and I hope to see you there! Visit: www. FSSPHunterdon.com or check out the FSSP on facebook for more information.
