We always assume that when our children are old enough to put their shoes and socks on by themselves, we don't need to look at their feet anymore. We think that if they are having a foot problem that they will tell us. Well, guess what, we are wrong. There are many foot problems that are preventable if treated early. People always believe that ingrown toenails are painful – this is not true. When an ingrown becomes infected it causes the toe to become swollen and red. The swelling can interfere with the nerves which cause the ingrown toenail to have no pain. Most times, parents are unaware that their child has an infected ingrown toenail. Children don't have pain and don't know what it is, so they ignore it as well. Parents only find out if the infection is severe or there is dried blood on their sock. Children may also have plantar warts on their feet which also can be non-painful in the beginning stages. Warts can develop quickly and can spread all over the feet. If they are left untreated, they can be much more difficult to treat. I was told when I was younger that children have growing pains and you should just ignore them. I can now tell you both as a physician and a father, that is not true. Children should not have growing pains. If a child has foot pain, then you should look at their feet. If they have flat feet then they might need a custom arch support. There are many children's foot problems that can be treated fairly quickly and easily in a Podiatrists office. Please look at your childrens feet even if they are a teenager. Take care of the problem now before it becomes severe – call my office today and get relief for your children's feet. call 4% REAL ESTATE COMMISSION WHY PAY MORE? * In Clinton Twp most houses sell within 35 days. 35+ Years Selling Real Estate in Hunterdon Co. For many of these children, the gift-filled box is the first gift they have ever received. Anyone can pack a shoebox. Individuals, families, churches, and groups fill empty shoeboxes with school supplies, person care items, and fun toys, such as dolls or a soccer ball. During National Collection Week (November 13-20, 2023) Samaritan's Purse will collect the shoeboxes at more than 4500 drop offs. For more infrmation, see: www.SamaritansPurse.org/occ.
