Yoga Teacher, ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Rock Steady Instructor Yoga is a systematic approach to health and healing. The definition of yoga is "to yoke" or to unify to make whole. The practice of yoga includes conscious breathing, physical postures that strengthen and stretch the body along with integrating the mind for stress relief. There are many different styles of yoga. This particular style focuses on linking movement with breath to create a moving meditation. It is appropriate for all levels of practitioners with many modifications available when needed. The best part is that yoga can be practiced every day! Learning to connect the mind, body and breath helps us to direct our attention inward. We then become more aware of life moment to moment. In class we work with traditional Sun Salutations to warm up the body. We then transition to some standing poses to build strength and stability. Next we move into a gentle twist for releasing back tension and creating mobility. We include balance poses to build awareness for both sides of the body. The remaining time is spent working with forward bends and back bends to build flexibility. Yoga helps to create a sense of ease in the body while creating strong and flexible muscles and healthy joints. Come check out the classes we offer here at the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers. We offer different types of Yoga throughout the week. I look forward to seeing you in class! Thanks to the generosity of the customers of ShopRite of Clinton, the Scouts were able to collect and transport 2,602lbs of donations to help restock the shelves at Open Cupboard Food Pantry. Scouts from the troop recently rounded out their winter activities with a skiing trip to Camelback Resort. The Scouts cabin-camped at nearby Resica Falls Scout Reservation, allowing them a sneak peek of the reservation ahead of the troop's week of residential summer camp there in July. We know spring is in the air when summer camps are being planned, and our troop welcomes freshly minted Scouts to our ranks. Members of Troop 288 attended Cub Scout Pack 190's crossover ceremony in early March, and welcomed our newest Scout to the troop. While the most common route to BSA Scouts is via bridging from a local Cub Scout pack, there is actually no prerequisite to be a Cub Scout in order to join a BSA Troop. Prospective Scouts need only meet the minimum age requirement of 11 years old, or have completed 5th grade. BSA Troop 288 meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm in the Fellowship Hall at Annandale Reformed Church, and welcomes new members to join us. For more information on Scouting, visit: www.beascout. scouting.org, or contact Scoutmaster Chris Neighbor (cgneighbor@comcast. net) for more information about joining BSA Troop 288.
