7 o c t o b e r 2 0 2 2 t e W k S b u r y h i S t o r i C a l S o C i e t y h o S t S 3 0 t h t e W k S b u r y a r t e x h i b i t i o n a n d S a l e The 30th Tewksbury Art Exhibition and Sale benefiting the Tewksbury Historical Society, chaired by Andy Calamaras, will take place Saturday, October 8 through Saturday, October 15, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Christian Education Center in Oldwick, 08858. The Exhibition includes juried, small works and portfolio works. Media includes oils, acrylics, paper (pastels, watercolors, mixed media collages), hand pulled prints (etching, silk screen, lithographs) and photography (analog and digital).. Subjects include animals, abstracts, landscapes, florals and still-lifes. An Opening Reception will be held Friday evening, October 7, 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Advance tickets are $30 and can be purchased until October 6, 6:00 pm, at: www.TewksburyHistory.net; tickets at the door are $35. Awards will be given for "Best in Show", "Best of Tewksbury", "Marion Katnack Award - Tewksbury Landscape", plus first, second, and third place Honorable Mentions in each category. Robert Beck, the Judge of Selection, attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (Philadelphia). A native of Bucks County, he maintains studios in New Hope, PA and NYC. He has exhibited his works at the James A. Michener Art Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Marine Maritime Museum, among others. He is known for painting in "visual essay", addressing subjects through multiple images. Wendell Jeffrey, Judge of Awards, received an MAT in Art Education from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI. She has completed residencies at the Golden Foundation (New Achimo, Ghana); Guttenberg Arts (Guttenberg, NJ); Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, VT), and the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (Deer Isle, ME). She is an art teacher at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Show continues through Saturday, October 15. Public viewing and sale will take place on Saturday, October 8, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, Sunday, October 9, 1-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, October 10-14, 12-5:00 pm and Saturday, October 15, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. The proposed upgrades and renovations focus on energy efficiency and safety. The passage of this referendum will NOT raise taxes. The passage of this referendum WILL result in the district receiving state aid to cover up to 40% of project costs. Learn more at www.nhvweb.net/ referendum-2022/. Projects in Referendum Question at North Hunterdon High School (visit website above to see all projects at both high schools): Focus on Energy Efficiency: • HVAC Improvements - Upgrades to HVAC units servicing the 150s, 240s, 250s classroom wings and the "O" level classrooms. HVAC units are beyond their useful life expectancy and will be replaced with high efficiency equipment providing fresh air ventilation, improved air filtration, heating and cooling for classrooms. Focus on Safety: • Stair Door Replacement - Replacement of interior stair doors with new fire rated and barrier-free compliant doors and hardware. • Locker Room Renovation - Renovation of the boys' locker room, PE teacher offices and coaches' locker room by Gold Gym will include new plumbing fixtures, lockers, benches, flooring, and lighting, as well as HVAC upgrades. Upgrades will be ADA-compliant. Boys locker room by gold gym is one of the most used and oldest locker rooms. Projected Cost of Projects = $6.5 million Cost to Taxpayers = $0 (Voter approval will result in up to 40% of the costs being covered by state aid. Existing funds in capital reserve account will cover remaining costs, with Board approval, resulting in no increase to taxpayers.) "My favorite color is October." ~ Unknown
