Under the leadership of Patrick Gavin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hunterdon Healthcare is participating in a statewide collaborative effort with the New Jersey Hospital Association and the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, to assist with the mobilization and international transport of supplies identified by the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Hunterdon Healthcare raised $70,000 to purchase medical supplies, medications, and equipment including ventilators, and portable defibrillators. In addition, part of the funds were used to help with shipping costs. On March 23rd, these supplies were transported from Hunterdon Medical Center by Wakefern/ ShopRite trucks to a Meest-America warehouse in Port Reading as supplies are prepared for shipment to Poland, which will serve as the staging point to distribute the donations to affected areas across Ukraine. "We know the hospitals in Ukraine are being impacted and we needed to act quickly. This donation was made possible because of the generous support from our physicians, employees, and community who wanted to help the people in Ukraine. These medical supplies are needed most and will help save lives," stated Mr. Gavin. New Jersey hospitals are sending more than 250 pallets of medical supplies and equipment and 40,000 doses of medications to Ukraine as the humanitarian crisis grows in the war-torn nation. If you'd like to join Hunterdon Healthcare in supporting these efforts, you can make a tax-deductible donation through Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation. "We not only have a wonderful and diverse Board of Trustees, but we also have board members who have come from all backgrounds and walks of life," said Tracey Heisler, Executive Director of CASA SHaW. "Our goal is to bring new board members into our organization who can lend not only their expertise, but also their life experiences to help us progress in the future for the foster youth we serve," Heisler said. Indivudals in our community who are interested in applying to become a member of the CASA SHaW Board of Trustees should send their resumes and credentials to CASA SHaW at info@casashaw. org. "It takes a village to help children in our community who have been abused and neglected. We want to expand our village to ensure that all children we advocate for are represented through our leadership at CASA," Heisler said. CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties is part of a statewide network of community-based, non-profit programs that recruit, screen, train and supervise volunteers to "Speak Up for a Child" removed from home due to abuse or neglect. CASA is the only program in New Jersey that uses trained volunteers to work one-on-one with children, ensuring that each one gets the services needed and achieves permanency in a safe, nurturing home.
