Visit our district website: www.applitrack.com/clintontwp/onlineapp/ Hello Clinton Township School Community, I am thrilled to be joining the Clinton Township School District. Clinton Township School District is well known for its excellent academic outcomes, and excellent support programs. The district has quality educators, leaders, support staff, and personnel and I am humbled to be welcomed as a leader to this community. As I look forward to getting to know the community better I wanted to take a moment and let you know a little bit more about myself. I started my education career in New York State. I graduated as an English major with an education minor from St. John Fisher College in Rochester. A few years later I earned a masters in reading from SUNY Potsdam and found myself in New Jersey. In New Jersey I taught in a few districts including Hunterdon Central and Flemington Raritan School District as an English teacher and a project based learning/gifted and talented teacher respectively. After earning my second masters in school administration from Montclair State I briefly directed a K-6 summer program at Stuart Country Day School before taking a job at the New Jersey Department of Education. One of my roles at the state was as the Somerset County Education Specialist. During that time I worked with over 70 districts in both Morris and Somerset County on things such as curriculum, compliance, QSAC, governance, and finance. During that time I also served as an adjunct at Delaware Valley University and started my EdD in School Leadership. I loved the state but missed working in a district and was thrilled to work in Somerville School District as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. That experience, along with my recent consulting and adjuncting experience, has led me to your great district. My official start date is April 1st. In the next few weeks I am going to meet with Dr. Ruberto, the board and other administrative and teaching staff to continue to bring myself up to speed on all that is happening in the school district. Dr. Ruberto will continue to serve as a support after my start date as I finish up prior obligations, and immerse myself into the superintendent role. Having lived in Hunterdon County for almost 20 years, I welcome working closely with a district that I have admired. We all know the last three years have been difficult for this and other school communities. As I begin this role, I look forward to moving the district forward in a direction that will build on past successes and give our students an opportunity to fully realize their potential in an innovative and nurturing environment. I will soon be setting up opportunities for meet and greets, and I will take the time to attend school events. I also am going to be looking to the community for insight. In April expect to see a survey on the school district website design with the possibility of joining a steering committee. Over the summer I plan on meeting with local leaders and having informal feedback sessions. Please, let me express one last time how excited I am for our district to grow and thrive in the years to come. Education is one of the greatest opportunities we can offer our students and one of the best ways to improve the future. Together we will continue to grow and create possibilities. – Sincerely, Dr. Melissa Stager A LETTER FROM OUR NEW SUPERINTENDENT, DR. MELISSA STAGER: I N O U R S C H O O L S :
