C O M G i r l S c o u t Service Unit 81 Troop 80923 recently achieved their Bronze Award for their donation of Pet Adoption Kits to three local pet shelters. The Bronze Award is the third highest award in Girl Scouts and can only be earned at the Junior level. Troop 80923 consists of 12 girls in the 4th and 5th grades. The girls spent the last nine months exploring their community to discover ways they could help by making observations, talking to others, and doing research. They decided to create Pet Adoption Kits, divided the individual tasks among themselves and started working, spreading the word about their project as they went. Together they created and completed the mission to reduce the chance shelter pets will be abandoned and to help the pets feel comfortable in their new homes. Their kits were decorated and filled with donations to benefit both the animals and their new owners, such as homemade pet-safe shampoo, treat recipes, toys and other valuable items such as vet coupons. The girls packed the donation boxes at their last in-person meeting on March 6 (pictured in photo). The boxes were delivered to shelters last week in shifts, to allow for social distancing. Good News Home for Women is concerned about the health and safety of staff, residents, visitors, vendors, and volunteers and reducing the possible spread of the virus. We are also concerned that following the COVID-19 guidelines for foodservice and social distancing might be difficult or impossible to meet. With that being said, we will be holding a live auction, date and time to be determined however it will be held the month of September 2020. We are in the very early phase of planning and more details to follow. PAID VENDORS We will honor all requests for refunds. Please email Dawn Davidson at dawn@goodnewshome.org with your request. Include your name, company name, address to send refund and phone number. If you do not wish to request a refund: • We can apply towards September 2021 Harvest Festival and a table is reserved for you. • You can request it to be a donation. Please email Dawn with your decision. Would you like to donate an item or items for the Live Auction in September? All are welcome to donate and we invite all vendors to participate. Gift baskets and gift cards are welcome. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Good News Home for Women. Contact Dawn at (908) 483-5394 for the details. Our prayers go out to our staff, residents, family, friends and supporters for safety and good health during this challenging time. We thank everyone for your continued financial support during these challenging times. www.donate2gnh.com – Dr. Inga Brockington, D.Min, LCADC Executive Director, Good News Home for Women To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven. A time to be born, a time to die. A time to plant, a time to reap. A time to kill, a time to heal. A time to laugh, a time to weep. To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven. A time to build up, a time to break down. A time to dance, a time to mourn. A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together. To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven. A time of love, a time of hate. A time of war, a time of peace. A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing. To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven. A time to gain, a time to lose. A time to rend, a time to sew. A time for love, a time for hate. A time for peace, I swear it's not too late. "Turn! Turn! Turn!" Recorded by The Byrds in 1965, Songwriter: Peter Seeger (based on the first eight verses of the third chapter of the biblical Book of Ecclesiastes)
