A n d e r s o n H o u s e C e l e b r at e s 20th Anniversary with Gourmet Food and Live Music On Friday, February 8, from 7:00 to 11:00pm, guests will gather at the Stangl Pottery Factory in Flemington to celebrate 20 years and honor Kay Applegate, Marfy Goodspeed, Boris Ivovich and Janet Schmidling. They are being recognized for their contributions as founders of Anderson House and their support of this valuable organization. The newly renovated Stangl Pottery Outlet in Flemington, now a unique artistic space, will be the setting for a night of celebration and history. Featuring live music, exciting silent and live auctions, gourmet food from Wolfgang Puck-trained chefs at the Blue Fish Grill, dessert by Market Roost and a photo gallery, the evening will offer something for everyone. A highlight of the evening is sure to be an Anderson House graduate telling her story of descent into addiction, recovery and hope. The festivities will include a live and silent auction featuring a year-long membership to Hunterdon Health & Wellness, golf packages from the Stanton Ridge Country Club and the Copper Hill Country Club, multiple Shawnee Mountain ski packages and artwork from local artist James Fiorentino, along with a TUMI handbag, earrings from Roman Jewlers and a fur package from Flemington Furs. Current sponsors of the event include J & J Healthcare Systems, ShopRite of Hunterdon County, Ms. Andrea Kaum, Investors Bank, Somerville Aluminum, Lafayette Utility Construction Company, Katherine and Timothy Howes, Team Capital Bank, Nadine Maleski, Esq, Peapack-Gladstone Bank and Whitehouse McDonald's and the Singelyn Family. Sponsorship and ad journal opportunities are still available. Since gaining nonprofit status in 1992 and opening their doors as a halfway house in 1995, Anderson House has helped more than 700 brave women from across the State work toward recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction. Anderson House is dedicated to providing quality treatment and supporting women as they develop the necessary goals and life skills to return to the community as responsible, sober and productive individuals. Because of the comprehensive care Anderson House provides, these women go on to lead full and fruitful lives, are reunited with their children and build satisfying futures. H u n t e r d o n H e a lt h & Wellness Centers We hope that you were able to begin 2013 in a healthy and happy fashion! Activities To Prevent A Wintertime Belly The winter season may seem daunting to many people, but this season does offer a lot of unique opportunities for a fresh start. With a blend of resistance and cardiovascular exercises, including snow shoveling, sledding with kids, pulling them up hills, and hiking in the snow are great ways to prevent (or reduce) a wintertime belly. The energy of the new year is still strong, and each day provides a new beginning. Trying a new group exercise class or working with a Personal Trainer may be a great way for you to stay motivated and accountable for your health. Playing with the dog outside keeps you both active and avoiding "cabin fever." Stressed? Schedule yourself for a massage! Having a home based or facility based exercise program is very helpful in these cold winter months as well. Feel free to stop into either of our facilities for a tour and membership information if interested. H a pp y S h o v e l i n g ! – B a c k S a f e t y Lift with your legs, not with your back!
