The effects of added sugar on the human body include, but are not limited to: weight gain, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Added sugar adds up to extra calories plus zero nutritional value. The American Heart Association recommends women consume no more than 6 teaspoons (24 grams) and men no more than 9 teaspoons (36 grams) daily. Naturally occurring sugars are found in fruits, vegetables and milk products thus are not considered "added sugars". Refined and processed foods are where most "added sugars" are found. There are many different ways sugar can be listed on a packaged food, making it difficult for consumers to detect, but in recent years laws require companies to list "total sugar" and "added sugar" separately on labels. The easiest way to follow these recommendations is to decrease the amount of processed foods and read the labels of any packaged food. Replacing processed foods with more vegetables, fruits, protein and complex grains will ensure a healthier diet overall. One example of a simple change is to swap a flavored yogurt for plain and add some berries and cinnamon. The Masons are the largest fraternity in the history of the world. Freemasonry (or simply, Masonry) is a fraternal order whose basic tenets are brotherly love, relief (philanthropy) and truth. They strive to enjoy the company of brother Masons, assist them in times of personal trouble and reinforce essential moral values. There is an old adage that Masonry "makes good men better", which is their goal. Masonic groups are geographically placed into "Lodges". A Masonic lodge operates like any other fraternal organization would, with regular business meetings, events, etc. Masonry offers men a good and positive environment to interact with men of good character, thereby reinforcing their own moral development. t H e F R i e n d s o F t H e H c l i B R a R y Do you love the library like we do?
