Students began right after Labor Day and enjoyed Ice Cream Socials, Pizza Parties and school dances sponsored by the PTA. Students are busy learning many new things in class, working with their peers and their teachers. As hard as it is to believe, September is over! As busy as September always is in our district schools, October brings some fun and interesting activities as well. CTSD Students are looking forward to the Book Fair upcoming in the month of October and the fall activities and celebrations at the end of the month. Staff will be participating in Professional Development again on October 14 as well as selected times throughout the month. I hope all of our CTSD families, students and staff got off to a great start this school year! Thank you, Dr. Michele Cone, Superintendent of Schools C L I N T O N T O W N S H I P S C H O O L N E W S www.ctsdnj.org A L e t t e r f r o m Michele Cone, Superintendent of Schools Dear Clinton Township Community Members: I N O U R S C H O O L S : Ms. Sostorecz is thrilled to be joining Patrick McGaheran School as a Special Education Teacher in Kindergarten. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from The College of Saint Elizabeth and is currently completing her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special Education. She is dually certified in both Early Childhood Education and Special Education. Ms. Sostorecz has taught Kindergarten in private and public school settings and most recently was the Building Substitute for the Patrick McGaheran School for the 2018-19 school year. In addition to her passion for teaching, Ms. Sostorecz is also the Leader of a Cadette Girl Scout Troop and an active member of her community's Recreation Committee. Ms. Sostorecz is very excited to continue working with the students at Patrick McGaheran School! Ms. Perkalis is very excited to join Patrick McGaheran as a Special Education Teacher. She graduated from Centenary University in the Spring of 2017 and is dually certified in Elementary Education and Special Education. Before coming to Clinton Township, Ms. Perkalis taught in another NJ district as a Special Education teacher. She enjoys working with children and building a positive classroom community with her students. Ms. Perkalis is very excited to begin her experience at Patrick McGaheran! Ms. Catherine Kane is very happy to be joining the staff at Patrick McGaheran and Spruce Run Schools! She is very excited to be working in these active and lively places. She currently resides in Long Valley with her daughter and Rosie, their pug. Ms. Kane received her BSN from the University of Scranton and her MA from William Paterson University. Ms. Kane has been a school nurse for 18 years. Her nursing career began at St. Barnabas where she worked in the Operating Room as a Circulator and Scrub Nurse, then worked in Labor and Delivery. He first School Nurse position was in 2001 at a high school with 5000 students. She also has worked as a middle school nurse. Ms. Kane invites you to please stop in and say "Hello." She is looking forward to getting to know our terrific community! Mrs. Gibson is very excited to be joining the Patrick McGaheran school this year as a First Grade Teacher. She graduated from Geneva College in 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in elementary and special education. Outside of school, she loves spending time with her family and going to the beach every chance she can. Teaching has always been her passion, and she is excited to learn alongside her first graders this year! Spruce Run School Spruce Run School hit the ground running with busy preschoolers ready to learn. Curiosity, exploration and energy fills the classrooms each day. We are thrilled to welcome our newest Preschool Teacher, Julia Monge, to Spruce Run School Preschool Team. She is a graduate from East Stroudsburg University where she received a dual degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. She lives in High Bridge, New Jersey. In her free time she likes to walk her dogs and spend time with friends and family. She is a creative and highly intuitive special education preschool teacher and is looking forward to a great school year! The team here at SRS is made up of preschool teachers, special educators, teaching assistants, related services providers, child study team members, custodial staff and secretaries – all dedicated staff members of the Clinton Township School District. Together, they provide a lively and energetic early childhood education. Patrick McGaheran School September was a wonderful month as we welcomed our kindergarten, first and second graders back to school This year we continue with our theme,"Building a PAWsitive foundation for the future!" We are pleased to welcome our new staff to our PMG Team: Mrs. Bruen is excited to be joining Patrick McGaheran School as the Art Teacher. She graduated from Arcadia University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Art Education with a concentration in Ceramics. For the last ten years, she has worked as an Art Teacher where she taught middle school Art, STEAM and Enrichment. In addition to being a teacher, Mrs. Bruen is also an instructor at the AR Workshop in Easton where she has the opportunity to share her love for DIY (Do It Yourself) projects. She lives on the Delaware River with her family and their many loved pets. Mrs. Bruen is very excited to begin her journey here and become part of the Patrick McGaheran School family! Mrs. Arthurs is joining the Patrick McGaheran family as a First Grade Teacher this year! She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Elementary Education and concentration in Language Arts in the Spring of 2016. Following graduation, she has worked as a kindergarten teacher in West Michigan for three years. Just recently, Mrs. Arthurs moved to New Jersey, bringing her to PMG. She is looking forward to this new experience both in New Jersey and the district! Mrs. Arthurs enjoys running, drinking good coffee, exploring, and spending time with family and friends. She looks forward to all this year has in store!
