This is a family-friendly event with music, food, activities, vendors, prizes and so much more! We welcome all community members who want to support those in recovery to participate in our alcohol and substance free event. Proceeds from the Cornhole Tournament will be going into a scholarship fund to be awarded to select Hunterdon County residents who wish to further their education by attending either a Vo-tech, two-year, four- year or certificate program. What do a landscaper and footwear model know about starting a bounce house rental company? Not a whole lot! But that didn't stop serial entrepreneurs Dave and Olivia Vollmer when they started their company, Bouncin' Blast. In addition to running their modeling agency (janemodelmgmt.com), the Vollmers have been bringin' the bounce to the party in the Hunterdon and Somerset County area since 2014. As passionate advocates for foster care and adoption, Dave and Olivia have partnered with Miriam's Heart, a local, Central NJ foster care and adoption non-profit by donating 10% of their gross sales to the organization (miriamsheart.org). Find out more at: www.BouncinBlast.com. t H e C e n t e R F o R n u t R i t i o n a n d d i a b e t e s M a n a g e M e n t o F F e R s F R e e e y e e x a M F o R p e o p l e w i t H d i a b e t e s The Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Management will offer a free eye screening for people with diabetes on Saturday, October 12 from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. The eye exams will be provided by the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Project B.E.S.T (Better Eye Health Services and Treatment). Diabetic eye disease is a leading cause of blindness and vision loss, yet early detection makes prevention or treatment possible. Specialists trained in detecting diabetic eye conditions will conduct the examinations. Both insulin dependent and non-dependent individuals with diabetes who are not currently under the care of an eye specialist and who do not have resources to get this service are urged to participate. The event will include a diabetes education fair which will showcase the latest diabetes products and supplies, provide supply give-a-ways, and will even do blood pressure checks. All attendees receiving an eye exam will have their eyes dilated and are required to arrange for a ride home. The Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Management is located at the Wescott Medical Arts Center, 9100 Wescott Drive, Ste. 102 in Flemington. Registration is required by October 10.
