Consider attending this Mushroom Foray event, which will take place on August 18 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Join New Jersey Mycological Association for a survey of mushroom species at Teetertown Preserve! From 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, participants will split up into smaller teams to search the park for mushrooms and collect some samples. Those new to mushrooming will be paired with experienced identifiers. From about 12:00 to 2:00 pm, the Association will set up books at the group lean-to camping area and participants will work together to identify the mushrooms collected in the morning. Identified fungi are separated into an area with identification tag so everyone can take pictures if they wish. Feel free to join the NJMA for one or both portions of the day. Please bring a basket for carrying mushrooms and lunch if desired. Note that the foray will focus on diversity and identification of mushrooms; we will not be eating them. Meet at the Group Camping Parking area, 20 Pleasant Grove Road, Lebanon Township (use Glen Gardner for GPS). Overflow parking will be at the stone house, 30 Pleasant Grove Road. No pre-registration required; check the Association's website: www.NJMyCo.org for more information or for weather questions (NJMA will collect rain or shine). All ages are welcome! f a r m l a n d m a r k e t Peaches, Nectarines, Pears, Plums and Apples are ripening in our orchard during August and are available at our Market at 66 Allerton Road and Rt. 31. It is open every day, 8 am to dusk. Visit our Gallery at the Market featuring woodcrafts, sculpture, furniture and art priced from $25 to $7000. It is made with lumber from our farm, cut on our own sawmill and crafted in our woodshop. Most of the art is by local artists. You are welcome to tour the property, sit by the stream and watch the fountains burble into the water surrounded by beautiful wetlands. You might even see frogs, turtles or little fish! Visit the goats, Cinderella and her kids, often playing on top of their house on Rt. 31 at the corner of Allerton Road. You are welcome to feed them grain we sell at the stand. Visit the chickens, and see where they lay their eggs. They even hatched nine chicks this spring. Our free-range eggs are one of our best selling items. Although the Market is sometimes self-service, you can often find Marija in the greenhouse or garden tending her flowers and veggies, grown and sold right there. Sometimes with her permission you can pick your own flowers or veggies from her garden. There are loads of pre-priced plants, flowers and vegetables to peruse. There are picnic tables that can be used for small groups by appointment. Keep an eye on Farm Land Market at 66 Allerton Road and Rt. 31, for nature is always bringing us something amazing and new.
