Registration for Hunterdon County YMCA Summer Day Camps has started. This year, some new and exciting programs will be offered in addition to the popular traditional camp options. YMCA camps offer youth, ages 4 – 13, fun and unique experiences with an opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet new friends, discover new interests, and create memories that last a lifetime. Attending HCY summer camp is a wonderful opportunity for youth to keep their minds and bodies active. According to Kristin Heimall, Senior Program Director, "Every summer I see amazing things happen at our camps. Our dynamic and energetic staff provide our campers with an incredible experience. I've seen new friends sit and chat away as their ice cream melts, I've seen counselors sit in the grass with a guitar and teach kids a new song and I've seen our team of Counselors in Training line up on the third-base line to give high-fives to a 5 year old who just kicked the ball for the first time. Camp is all about growing, learning, having fun and making friends." Because each child is unique, the HCY offers a variety of camp experiences. Traditional camp is held at both Camp Carr in Clinton Township and South Camp at South Hunterdon High School in Lambertville. Sports Camp is held at the Deer Path Branch in Flemington and Pre-Kamp for Preschoolers is held at the Round Valley Branch in Annandale. There are also many specialty camp options, including Travel Camp, Horseback Riding, Mad Science, Bricks 4 Kidz (Lego), Baseball, Dance, Flag Football, Extreme Sports, Soccer, and Lacrosse, plus Nature, NERF , Super Hero, Wizarding Academy, Archery Tag, and Ninja Warrior Camp. A Counselor in Training Program is available for children ages 13 – 14 at Camp Carr, Sports Camp and South Camp. This program gives youth the opportunity to learn leadership skills, share what they have learned, and be a role model for younger campers. Parents can save money by registering now for Y Summer Camps and take advantage of special spring pricing. All camp fees will increase on May 1. This year there is also special pricing for siblings. To ensure that all youth have the chance to experience camp, the Hunterdon County YMCA offers financial assistance to those in need.
