Survivors of this particular type of loss can feel isolated by the cause of death. This bereavement group creates a safe place where members can receive empathy and openly share feelings and thoughts associated with their loss. Information shared is confidential. This is an eight week session to begin on January 8, 2019 and will run through March 15, 2019. The group meetings will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm-8pm at the offices of Hunterdon Hospice, located in the Hunterdon Regional Community Health Building, 215 Route 31 South, Flemington, NJ. Hunterdon Hospice provides care that extends beyond those experiencing a life limiting illness. The Hunterdon Hospice staff are experts in providing support to those in grief and bereavement. All support groups are open to individuals in the community who have experienced the loss of a loved one or friend. To register for this group or to find out more about other Bereavement groups facilitated by the staff of Hunterdon Hospice, please call Jennifer Kennedy, LCSW, Social Work Coordinator, Hunterdon Hospice, 908-788-6600. According to the AARP, isolation is becoming more common, especially in senior populations. It is the result of feeling detached, either physically or psychologically from support groups of friends, family and the community. The result of this can lead to changes in mental health, specifically leading to depression which is not a normal part of aging, but can be difficult to diagnose in older people. The National Alliance on Mental Illness notes that symptoms may more often include memory problems, persistent and vague complaints of pain, disturbed sleep and demanding behaviors. The post-holiday transition can intensify these symptoms. Recognizing that help is needed is the first step and there are many assessment tools on the internet including at: www. Connect2Affect.org. If you or someone you know is at risk for isolation or has any of the symptoms of depression, reach out to your healthcare provider and know that there is hope. h u n t e r d o n C o u n t y l i b r a r y ' S u P C o m i n G e v e n t S Please Join Us at the Library and Enjoy our Programs! 314 Rt. 12 Bldg#3, Flemington , NJ 08822 | 908.788.1434 Jan 3 You Can Keep Your New Year Resolutions! 7 pm Jan 16 On the Big Screen Movie Night (Please call for title) 6 pm Jan 17 Pianist/Singer Fred Miller: 2 pm Cole Porter (Make up of November's postponed show) Jan 17 On the Big Screen Movie Night (Please call for title) 6 pm Jan 30 Fraser Thomas Concert: Classic Rock, Jazz, Blues & Pop Mixes 7 pm On Going: Knitting Club Drop-In (Mondays 10am on Lower Level) Please register as these programs will fill!
