Attention bargain hunters, do-it-yourselfers and de-clutterers! A Habitat ReStore is coming soon to Somerset County! Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVHFH) will open a Habitat ReStore in the Marketplace at Manville next to Walmart on North Main Street in Manville this fall. RVHFH will pick up gently used furniture and goods from Somerset and Hunterdon County residences and give them a second life at the Habitat ReStore's Grand Opening. Your contributions will help RVHFH build more homes and provide low-income individuals and families working hard to build brighter futures with the pride and dignity of affordable homeownership — all while reducing waste in landfills. To schedule a time for RVHFH to pick up large items from your home in Somerset or Hunterdon County, please email a picture and description to restoredonations@rvhabitat.org or call 908.704.0016, ext. 14. RVHFH's Habitat ReStore accepts items ranging from appliances and building products to furniture, home goods and household fixtures such as lighting and cabinets. The Habitat ReStore sells the donated goods to the public at low, affordable prices. Habitat for Humanity International established the ReStore program to help local affiliates raise funds to build more homes and more opportunities for low-income wage earners to build strength, stability, and self-reliance. There are now over 1,000 Restores operating in five countries. This is the first store serving the Somerset and Hunterdon County area. According to Meg Helms, President of the RVHFH Board of Directors, securing a site for the ReStore is a fruitful conclusion to a long and dedicated search. She noted, "Our affiliate looked for a home for our Habitat ReStore for many years, and commissioned a study by Habitat for Humanity International to help us pinpoint the most favorable location. We are thrilled our dream is coming true with a wonderful landlord, neighboring stores and the terrific community of Manville. This was a huge team effort of Board members, volunteers and staff to get to this point, and I could not be prouder of this team." Seeking to put God's love into action, Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVHFH) brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. In the past 25 years, RVHFH has built 50 homes in Hunterdon and Somerset counties for low and moderate income families. RVHFH is currently building three more homes in Somerset County.
