Clinton Area Stage Troupe (CAST) will present the musical-comedy murder mystery, Curtains, on July 18 through 21 in the North Hunterdon High School theater. This summer, CAST is celebrating its 10th anniversary, having incorporated in 2008 and performed 14 productions since then. With music from the song writing team, John Kander and Fred Ebb, Curtains takes place during the brassy, bright and promising year of 1959, at a Boston theater where a new musical is opening. When leading lady Jessica Cranshaw (played by Meg Adam Slutter of Clinton Township), mysteriously dies just after the opening performance, the entire cast and crew are suspects. Detective Frank Cioffi, played by Vincent Angeline of Union Township, arrives to investigate the scene. Discouraged, the cast is ready to quit, when Cioffi, who just happens to be a musical theater fan, inspires them with the rousing production number, "Show People," and they continue on the quest to bring their show to Broadway. That is, as soon as Cioffi completes the investigation and nabs the murderer. The cast includes the director of the show-within-the-show, Christopher Belling, played by Bruce Cargill of Clinton Township; the show's producers, Carmen and Sidney Bernstein, (Jeanne Dunham of Clinton and Steve Hill of Alexandria Township); song- writing team Aaron Fox and Georgia Hendricks (Hunter Chadeayne of Phillipsburg and Katie Meo Cudworth of Clinton); an ingenue understudy who wishes to be the star, Niki Harris (Peggy Button of Flemington); the show's backer, Oscar Shapiro (Ron Subber of Pittstown); theater critic Daryl Grady (Michael Waskiewicz of Clinton); choreographer Bobby Pepper (Andy Kapetenakis of Clinton Township); dancer Bambi Bernet (Brittany Hill of Alexandria Township), and stage manager Jenny Harmon (Kristeen Lehnert). An ensemble and featured actors include local residents: Chris Adams, Mariah Adams, Riley Boyce, Heidi Cimilluca, James Craig, Dale Dabour, Mike Garyantes, Alan Gorelick, Karissa Haney, Lynne Healey, Brayden Hill, George Kapetanakis, Bill LePore, Jake Maglio, Cate Mattison, Louise Palermo, Daisy Parker, Lisa Postiglione, Steve Slutter, Kathy Snow, and Ed Winnick. The show will have a live orchestra conducted by Kateri Verenna of Easton, PA. CAST's Curtains is produced and directed by Mary Ennis Meo, assistant produced by Diane Lehnert of Clinton Township and Linda Lauchaire of Annandale, stage managed by Ronna Hill of Alexandria Township, choreographed by Sarah Meo of Clinton, and vocal directed by Hunter Chadeayne of Phillipsburg. Curtains received eight nominations at the 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show includes additional lyrics by Rupert Holmes and John Kander, and is based on the original book and concept by Peter Stone. CAST's production of it is made by special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide. Performances are on Wednesday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 20 at 7:30 pm, and Saturday, July 21 at 2:00 pm (matinee). All shows are in the North Hunterdon High School theater. Tickets, at $15 for general admission, and $9 for senior citizens (over age 65) and children (age 11 years and younger), can be purchased at the door, or ordered ahead by sending an email to cast.shows@yahoo. com. www.ClintonAreaStageTroupe.com. Immaculate Conception School just added an afternoon Little Lambs Toddler Program. This toddler program provides a warm, positive, first school experience for 2-year-olds. The program is designed to encourage independence in a fun-filled classroom environment as the teacher and support staff foster growth in all areas of development. The program is offered September – December one day each week for two hours. In January the program expands to two days each week as the little ones are prepared for their 3-year-old preschool experience the following school year. Each school day will follow a planned schedule that encompasses many opportunities for creative exploration, while allowing your child the freedom to engage in play and satisfy his/her natural curiosity for life. The lessons planned will support the development of cognitive skills while using creativity and encourage growth in self-confidence. The program emphasizes language development through music, sto- rytelling, dramatic play and social experiences. In addition, the children will engage in integrated activities, which will develop their small and large motor skills in the classroom and on the playground. Immaculate Conception School in Annandale is a Blue Ribbon School of Academic Excellence and the only Catholic School in Hunterdon County. The school serves students two years old through grade eight and offers a rigorous academic program seeking to foster in each student spiritual growth, academic excellence and moral integrity.
