The talk is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Copies of Kiovsky's book will be available for purchase courtesy of the Califon Book Store. Doug Kiovsky wrote "The Heritage of Our Hunterdon County Parks" in 2013 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Hunterdon County Park System. Doug will speak about how the park system was created and start off with the history of the Cold Brook Preserve in Oldwick. From there, he will speak about the historical background regarding several of the county parks. He worked at the Hunterdon County Parks Dept. for 25 years from 1989-2014 in the capacity as an assistant park planner, historian and park ranger. He obtained a BS in History from Thomas Edison State University in Trenton. He lives Bordentown and served an assistant archivist for the Roebling Museum until 2017. He currently is a member of the Bordentown Historical Society where he's creating exhibits in a volunteer capacity. Membership in the Society is open to anyone interested in the history of Tewksbury Township. The cost is $ 15 annually for an individual membership or $ 25 for a family membership. Members receive a quarterly newsletter and advance notice of all programs and events the Society holds throughout the year. The Society holds three regular meetings per year on the 3rd Sunday in January, March, and May with a 4th being the Covered Dish Supper with program. The Tewksbury Historical Society is a New Jersey not-for-profit corporation and was organized for the purpose of furthering research into and the preservation and dissemination of the history of the Township of Tewksbury. The Society requests donations of documents, records and small artifacts related to Tewksbury's History. There will be six barns on the tour offering a diverse display of country life in Tewksbury. Tickets can be purchased online through the Tewksbury Historical Society's website at www.tewksburyhistory.net then click on the Barn Tour page. Advance tickets are $ 20 per person and $ 5 for children 12 and under. Tickets must be picked-up the day of the event, along with a brochure and tour road map, at the Christie Hoffman Farm 108 Fairmount Road West (Route 512) Fairmount section of Tewksbury Township. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the tour (while available) at the Christie Hoffman Farm, at a cost of $ 25 per person. Tickets must be purchased no later than 1:00 pm to allow enough time to complete the tour by 4:00 pm. The Tewksbury Historical Society is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to research, preserve and disseminate the rich history of the Township of Tewksbury. The Tewksbury Trail Association is devoted to supporting a vibrant equine community and preserving the rural atmosphere and natural beauty of Tewksbury Township.
