In 1969, Pam and Dan Bacon opened a small shop in Quakertown, NJ. The couple took in deer hides and made leather items for a mostly local clientele. They soon realized their success in retail depended as much on their proximity to shoppers as on the quality of their goods, so they moved their enterprise to New Hope, PA, where they opened the Deer Skin Shop, crafting and selling an expanded repertoire, including coats, leather belts, moccasins, as well as sheepskin clothing. Four years later, Pam and Dan opened a shop in Peddlers Village, the up-and-coming shopping attraction in Bucks County, PA. While there they began making jewelry, selling handcrafted pieces along with everything else. The success of Peddler's Village brought ever-increasing rents, prompting the Bacons' decision to move their business to Clinton, NJ, in May of 1978. They opened a small store at 44 Main Street across from the popular Orvis shop that faced the Hunterdon Art Museum and the landmark Red Mill. Made To Order traded mostly in jewelry, sheepskin clothing and leather until they expanded, adding an art gallery stocked with prints by artists from across the country. Shortly after this the print market crashed forcing them to concentrate mainly on jewelry. It has been loyal friends and customers who have kept Made To Order in Clinton for forty years in this ever changing age of the internet and large stores. A wide selection of distinctive silver, gold and platinum jewelry remains the foundation of success. Expertise gained from decades of face-to-face customer relations, as well as a generous repair service and jewelry design, make for a loyal and reliable patronage. Today you will find an imaginative selection of jewelry and gifts including PANDORA Jewelry, Valina Bridals, Thorsten Wedding Jewelry, Seiko and Pulsar Watches, Spartina Handbags, Bill Campbell pottery, Thymes Fragrances, Majesty Bells Wind Chimes, Kitras Art Glass, Sheepskin Slippers and Red Mill Gifts to name a few. Visit the store and together your design can be brought to life or in other words, Made To Order. Stop in and join the celebration! 44 Main St., Clinton NJ. 908.735.4244, www.MadeToOrder.net C L i n t o n ' s C O M e T O g e T h e r f R i d a y n i g h t s t R e e t f e s t i v a L s 2 0 1 8 ! Clinton's Come Together Friday Night Street Festivals 2018 (the 11th Annual) starts every year on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, and runs for 15 consecutive Friday nights through Labor Day Weekend. Four bands will play every Friday night from 7:00 to 9:00 pm! This year Come Together will also be on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 pm! The kick-off date will be Saturday, May 19, the day of Prince Harry and Meghan's Royal Wedding. So after watching it on TV, everyone is invited to the Royal Reception on Main Street, Clinton, featuring "Little Nikki's Radio," a Party Dance Band playing on the Art Museum Terrace and the Arturo Jazz Band playing across from Dora's outdoor seating restaurant. There will be roaming waiters serving food samples courtesy of Mia of 15 Landsdowne Catering, and everyone is invited to wear black and white! Over the years, Clinton's Come Together, named after the Beatles song and sponsored by the nonprofit Guild of Clinton, has grown to define Clinton as "The town where they have the Music!" and "the place" to bring friends, a date, the family, (and don't forget the dog!) on Friday summer nights, and now Saturday afternoons too! So come on out and listen to music, dance, dine and shop in Clinton this summer! We hope to see you there! s m a L L w o R K s a R t s h o w i n h i s t o R i C f L e m i n g t o n !
