C l i n t o n T W P N J . c o m With the general election now past us, I would like to thank the voters for approving our Ballot Question regarding the use of part of the Open Space Tax levy for improving the public use of, and access to, our Open Space lands. Next steps will entail approving changes to ordinances to reflect this approval, including a yearly public discussion regarding how the Open Space levy will be appropriated. We will soon be seeking ideas and input from Township committees, stakeholders and the public to develop and prioritize improvement projects associated with this new ability. I'd also like to update you on several items around the Township: • ExxonMobil broke ground for their expansion in late September, with the initial wave of relocating employees expected in mid-2018 and finishing up in 2019 (this project will bring an estimated 350 new jobs to Clinton Township). • All ordinances and contracts associated with the Old Municipal Building project in Annandale have been completed. We expect this project should be before the Planning Board for final approval in December/January. • The 66 unit affordable housing project on Beaver Ave was approved for State tax credit financing, ensuring that it can be built at no cost to the Township. A huge win for the Township, this 100% municipally sponsored project is expected to return to the Planning Board for final approval in December/January. • The Hanna Memorial Cancer Infusion Clinic at Petticoat Lane and Route 22 was approved by the State Department of Health; construction permits issued and construction should begin soon. • The annual road repaving effort finished in October with Haytown, Molasses Hill, Heather Hill, Sand Hill, Orchid, Ramsey and Hadlar completed. The reconstruction of Stanton Mountain Road (partially funded via a DOT grant) began in late October and will continue as weather allows with completion expected early next year. • Lastly, at this writing leaf collection is underway and is expected to continue into December; please check the Township web page for weekly updates. No Shave November's mission is to not only raise funds for cancer research, but to educate the community about preventative measures. To show our support for this cause, for the month of November Clinton Township Police officers grew full beards and, in doing so, visibly showed our support to the community. Many of us have been personally affected by a having a loved one suffer from cancer. Additionally, as police officers we often respond to calls involving cancer patients in need of assistance. We think this is a great way for us to show our community that we are there for you and we support you. We have set up a website that residents can donate to if they wish. We do not keep any of the money; 100% percent of the donations go straight to cancer research and awareness programs, including St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Our union, the Clinton Township FOP Lodge 182, supports this cause fully and will be making a donation. The website for donations is: www.no-shave.org/ member/Clinton_Township_FOP.
