Students worked together as a team and also with a teacher to research organizations that could help distribute money to the families affected by the storms. Students then created a fundraising campaign and raised over $800! We are very proud of their work and thankful for the generosity of our families. Staying Active During the Winter Months: PMG's Physical Education Teacher, Scott Annan, has shared some tips for families to remain active during the winter months ahead. Advances in technology over the years allow us to exercise without leaving the house. Many families have the ability to take advantage of fitness equipment in the home, which can include treadmills, rowers, elliptical machines and universal machines. Don't want to work out with equipment? I challenge my family to a game on the Wii or X-Box-Kinect consoles. The Wii and X-Box-Kinect allow players of all ages to enjoy video games. These video games allow players to dance, throw, swing and jump, keeping us physically active while having FUN! If you are not excited about staying inside, bundle up and go outside to play in the snow! Looking for some adventure, go to the mountain for some skiing, snowboarding, or tubing. Rd V Scho "Shoes4Souls" We are happy to share that Round Valley School collected over 2,500 pairs of shoes. Hip-hip-hooray! Students took an active part in setting up this drive, collecting shoes, bagging shoes and ultimately loading the bags onto the delivery truck! This was the goal of our students and they raised $1,000 which will be donated to hurricane victims. Sixth grade math students are putting their math skills to the test one cornflake at a time! We thought the students were creating an RVS Breakfast Club, but they were putting their algebraic skills to use to determine the best buy based on the cost per ounce for a variety of cereal choices. Students in the 5th grade health class developed short term goals. They then created posters to help motivate them as they worked on accomplishing their goals. Veteran's Day! Mrs. Snyder's social studies classes completed various activities in honor of this years Veteran's Day Celebration. Some students researched a friend or family member's service in the military, others wrote letters to men and women thanking them for their service. Another option students chose was to create a slideshow about the history of the holiday. It was so interesting learning about the holiday and the stories that students shared about the men and women that have served our Country! Thank you to all our veterans! t Tohip Midd Scho SAVE THE DATE! Purple Rain - Bands Battling Cancer returns to CTMS on Friday, January 5, 2018! This evening of music features both teacher and student bands. Plan to come and rock with us from 6:30 - 9:30 pm in the CTMS auditorium. Tickets available at the door; $10 suggested donation goes to the American Cancer Society. The 8th Annual CTMS Relay for Life will be held on Friday, February 23 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm! We have raised over $260,000 in the fight against cancer, and we welcome the community to join us! Visit our website at www.relayforlife.org/ctmsnj or contact Ms.Cormican at dcormican@ctsdnj.org. Hope to see you there! Mark your calendars for our first TREP$ Marketplace, to be held at CTMS on Wednesday, April 11 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. This is a student entrepreneur program where students write a business plan, produce products and then sell them at a real marketplace. It is sure to be a great event, so plan to come out for a night of shopping! In Mrs. Waddell's 8th grade technology class students are learning how to design in 3-D using a software program called SketchUp. After learning the basics of computer aided design (CAD), students use their critical thinking skills to create a personalized Chromebook tag to be hung by a carabiner from their Chromebook bag. This alleviates the problem of students inadvertently taking someone else's Chromebook. We are lucky to have a grant funded by the Clinton Township Foundation for Educational Excellence (CTFEE) -- and to have our very own MakerBot -D printer. We are currently in the process of printing the 3-D tags, which is very exciting, but also a very slow process. Each tag takes about one hour to print. Thank you to the CTFEE for giving us this unique opportunity! Please mark your calendars for upcoming Clinton Township Middle School concerts. All concerts will take place in the auditorium and will start at 7:00 pm: December 5: CTMS Choral Concert December 12: CTMS Band Concert Clinton Township School District Mission Statement: The Clinton Township School District, in partnership with the community, achieves excellence for each child by ensuring a meaningful and challenging educational experience in a supportive environment; developing life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens.
