The concert is sponsored by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey as part of the NJSO's Music and Wellness Program. All ages will enjoy this concert featuring classic Broadway tunes. Take an afternoon to relax and enjoy great music. American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein, one of the great icons of the 20th century, believed the Broadway musical to be at the core of the American cultural experience and the country's lasting artistic contribution to the world. This program features music from his most famous musical, West Side Story, as well as songs from a host of other legendary composers arranged for string quartet. The selections span decades of great musicals, from the classic The Wizard of Oz to recent adaptations of the blockbuster movies Titanic and The Lion King. "It has been inspiring to see the happiness and comfort live music has brought to patients, their family members and hospital staff, and we are thrilled to partner with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey to bring this program to Hunterdon Medical Center," says NJSO Director of Institutional Giving Ingrid Novak. Through its partnership with the NJSO, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is bringing customized Music and Wellness events to several medical centers and partner hospitals. NJSO musicians have performed for patients at their bedsides and given chamber music concerts in common areas. The NJSO's Music and Wellness Program is made possible by partnerships with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC), Children's Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) and Hackensack University Medical Center. Together with other volunteers, Team HCFRW worked the farm, filling 24 bins of produce needed to fill the City Harvest truck. During the time spent in the fields 24,000 pounds of squash was harvested! This will provide about 96,000 servings of nutrient-rich squash for many of our neighbors struggling with food insecurity. Continuing its focus on community service, HCFRW is expanding its Coat Drive throughout the month of November. Anyone having a gently used coat to donate, please contact Linda at: 908.303.1945, and arrangements will be made for pickup. All coats are donated to organizations and individuals who are most in need within Hunterdon County. HCFRW holds monthly meetings and a variety of community service, educational and social events throughout the year, designed to address timely and relevant topics for active discussion, diversity of opinion, experience, and culture.
